Najmul Huda, other five suspects taken to Delhi on different flights

Bengaluru, Jan 25: The six suspects, who were picked up by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) during Friday’s raids across Karnataka, were flown to Delhi on Sunday after the NIA obtained their in-transit custody for four days.

flights“The six were taken in different vehicles to the Kempegowda International Airport. The NIA formed six special teams and each suspect was taken on a different flight to avoid any problems midair. Taking all the six suspects on a single aircraft would have been risky,” said a police officer.

The NIA teams arrested them, including four in Bengaluru and one each at Mangaluru and Tumakuru. They are techie Mohammed Afazl, engineering student Najmul Huda, Asif, Ahad, Mohammed Sohil and Syed Mujaid Pasha.

Meanwhile, NIA officials have clarified that the arrest of Javeed Rafiq from Vinayakanagar near Parappana Agrahara on Saturday evening, is not related to the recent arrest of terror suspects and they are gathering more information about him.

Bengaluru, Apr 25: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Saturday initiated Phase I clinical trials to use plasma therapy for COVID-19 patients at city-based BMC Victoria Hospital.

Sriramulu was accompanied by Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar.

"Karnataka has taken a lead role as we initiate Phase I clinical trials to use Convalescent Plasma Therapy for severe COVID-19 infected patients. BMC Victoria hospital took the first step today. We are determined to vanquish this enemy of mankind," Sriramulu said in a tweet.

"I wish our team of doctors at BMC Victoria hospital and team led by Dr US Vishal Rao a great success. This will be a torchbearer in our fight against Corona," he said in another tweet.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the state has so far reported 474 confirmed cases of COVID-19 which include 152 discharged or cured patients and 18 deaths.

Bengaluru,  Aug 1: As many as 5,172 new COVID-19 cases and 98 deaths were reported in Karnataka on Saturday, taking the state's count of coronavirus cases to 1,29,287.

The active cases in the state now stand at 73,219 while 53,648 people have been discharged.

"5,172 new COVID-19 cases and 98 deaths reported in Karnataka in the last 24 hours, taking total cases to 1,29,287 including 53,648 discharges and 2,412 deaths. The number of active cases stands at 73,219," said State Health Department.

So far, a total of 2,412 people have died in the state.

India, on Saturday, reported 57,117 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's coronavirus tally to 16,95,988, said the Union Health Ministry.

Mangaluru, Jan 30: A dentist has been arrested by the Dakshina Kannada district police on charge of sexually harassing a woman patient during treatment at a hospital in Beltangady taluk.

The accused has been identified as Dr Sudhakar. He is facing charges under section 354, 354A(1)(I) of IPC.

The incident occurred yesterday when a local woman had been to the government hospital at Kasaba village in Beltangady for dental treatment.

According to the woman, Dr Sudhakar deliberately touched her body inappropriately and sexually harassed during treatment.

The shocked woman went to the jurisdictional Beltangady police station and lodged a complaint. The doctor was arrested and produced before the court.
