Never thought I would come back to acting: Preity

February 3, 2017

Mumbai, Feb 3: Her last big screen outing was her maiden production venture "Ishkq in Paris" in 2013 and Preity Zinta, who is awaiting the release of "Bhaiyyaji Superhitt", says she never thought she would return to the acting side of showbiz has her husband not pushed her into it.

preity27Preity tied the knot with her longtime American beau Gene Goodenough last year in the US. The actress has been since shuttling between India and the US and finds it a little tough.

"I think women are super women. So juggling doesn't bother me so much. I am very happy I am very lucky that I am married to somebody who pushed me back to doing a movie.

"I had thought I would not do anymore movies and moved to the business side of the story. Yes it has been a little tough to adjust after getting married," Preity said in an interview on the sidelines of Lakme Fashion Week.

Her last film was a debacle at the box office but the actress says she is not carrying that burden forward to her next release as she is not producing it.

"There is absolutely no pressure because I am not producing. I am not stressed. I think its ok , if you look at any actor's career, they have all done their first production and they have all fallen flat. I am still very proud of the film."

"Bhaiyyaji Superhitt" is an action comedy directed by Neeraj Pathak. Besides Preity, the film also stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Arshad Warsi.

Preity plays an "earthy" character in the film and jokes that it is her "revenge" from all the producers who had said that the actress was only fit for western roles.

"It is a very special film because I have never played such an earthy character before. It is my first desi role.

Everyone used to tell me that I am only suited to do western roles. This is my revenge."

When asked if women-centric roles are something which is looking for, Preity says she wants to do films which have a positive message and a great story.

"I don't think about women centric films. I think it's about great story. One of the first films of my career was 'Kya Kehna' which was a women centric movie. But I don't look at films that like that. I think films should have a positive message."

Mumbai, Jul 19: Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against two Instagram account holders for allegedly threatening actor Rhea Chakraborty, an official said on Sunday.

The location of the two accused is yet to be traced, the official said, adding that the investigation in the case is at primary stage.

Chakraborty on Thursday requested the cyber crime cell to look into the rape and murder threats she has been receiving ever since the death of close friend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Rajput, 34, was found dead in his apartment in suburban Bandra here on June 14, leaving people in the film industry and audiences shocked.

Chakraborty, in particular, was subjected to online hate with users blaming her for Rajput's suicide.

"We registered the First Information Report (FIR) on Saturday under Indian Penal Code Sections 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication), 509 (intending to insult modesty of any woman) and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act," Santacruz police station's senior inspector Shriram Koregaonkar said.

"No arrest has been made so far. We are conducting an investigation in the case," he added.

On Thursday, sharing a screenshot of a hate message she received on Instagram, Chakraborty said while she had ignored many abusive texts sent to her in the past month, the harassment was now unbearable.

The 28-year-old actor eventually disabled the comments section of her Instagram page.

Chakraborty, known for films such as "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" and "Jalebi", had tagged the cyber cell and requested the authorities to look into the threats.

On June 18, she was called to the Bandra police station to record her statement in connection with Rajput's death.

Mumbai, Jun 17: A lawyer on Wednesday moved a criminal complaint against 8 persons, including Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and producer-director Karan Johar, in a local court regarding the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

The court had fixed July 3 as the next date of hearing.

In his complaint filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha alleged that these eight persons forced Sushant to commit suicide under a conspiracy which, he pleaded, amounted to murder.

Others named in the complaint are Aditya Chopra, Sajid Nadiadwala, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Ekta Kapoor, and director Dinesh.

The complainant claimed that these persons did not let Sushant's movies get released under a conspiracy and the late actor was not even invited to film functions because of these people.

Ojha said that Sushant Singh Rajput's death had not only hurt the people of Bihar but the entire country.

He said the complaint had been filed under Sections 306, 109, 504 and 506 and Bollywood actor Kangana Ranawat had been listed as a witness in the case.

Sushant Singh Rajput had allegedly committed suicide at his Bandra flat in Mumbai on Sunday.
