New political forum to play decisive role in next Assembly polls'

Mangalore, April 12: The newly formed forum of political and social organisations, Praja Pragathi Ranga, will be an alternative to the BJP, Congress and the JD(S) in the state, said Praja Pragathi Ranga State Convener Lolaksha.

Speaking to press on Wednesday, he said that the Forum will play a decisive role in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

“According to our preliminary calculations, we will get at least 9-11 per cent of total votes. Next assembly election will result in hung assembly and our stand will play a decisive role in formation of the Government,” he said adding that the Praja Pragathi Ranga will have members from different organisations, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.

“BJP, Congress and JD(S) have lost their value and are busy making money out from corrupt means,” he said adding that Praja Pragathi Ranga includes Republican Party of India, Social Democratic Party of India , Bahujan Samaj Party , Lok Janshakti Party, Welfare party of India, Sarvodaya Karnataka Paksha, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha,Samata Sainik dal, Popular front of India , Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (Bhimavada), Alemari budakattu Mahasabha, All India Christian Council, Dalit-Christian Okkuta and Dalit Sena.

Mangaluru, Jun 23: An elderly person, who was undergoing treatment for covid-19 in Mangaluru, breathed his last on today. 

The victim, identified by number P-6282, was a 70-year-old man. He had returned from Bengaluru on June 7. 

He was suffering asthma and pneumonia. He had Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) symptoms and was hence admitted to the designated covid-19 hospital in Mangaluru on June 12. 

His condition continued to worsen and today he breathed his last, sources said.

With this the total number the deaths of covid-19 patients in Dakshina Kannada district mounted to 9.

Udupi, Jan 7: Eshapriya Teertha Swamiji, who was appointed as the junior Swamiji of Admar Math, would be ascending the 'Paryaya Peeta' for the first time on January 18, Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji of Admar Math said.

Speaking to the media at Admar Moola Math at Admar near Padubidri on Monday night Vishwapriya Teertha Swamiji of Admar Math said, 'I had performed my first Paryaya in 1988-90 with the help of Shri Vishwapriya Teertharu.

'The second Paryaya was performed independently by the order of Shri Vibudhesha Teertharu in 2004-06.

Bengaluru, Feb 6: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said that portfolios for the 10 new ministers who sworn in on Thursday will be allocated by February 8.

Speaking to media persons, he said that he will go to Delhi in the coming days and the date of his visit will be finalised soon.

He is expected to meet the high command again to finalise the list of BJP MLAs for three berths in the Cabinet.
