Devotional songs CD of Urwa temple to be released on Feb 18

Mangalore, February 7: Bahrain based Kanchan Foundation will release “Kalasha Kanchana” a CD of devotional of songs of Urwa Mariamma Temple.

The CD will be released on the occasion of offering of golden pinnacle to the temple on February 18 at its premises.

The CD consists of nine songs in Kannada and Tulu languages. Yashawanth Boloor and Leeladhar Baikampady have written the lyrics. Music Director MB Gururaj of Clad Media composed while music mixing has done by Janani Studio, Kannur of Kerala, Sharada Studio of Mulky and Sairam Studio of Mangalore.

Sangeetha Balachandra, Ajay Wariyar, Ravindra Prabhu, MB Gururaj Mangalore have rendered their voice.

The CD will be released in the presence of N Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker of State legislative Assembly, Jagadish Boloor, Managing Director of Yojaka India, Dr G Shankar, Nithin Kumar and others.

Udupi, Jan 16: The mandatory implementation of FASTag, across the country, was not enforced in the toll gates located in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.

The toll gate personnel cited that they had not received any directions from the NHAI and hence vehicles were being allowed to ply as per the current practice.

As per government order, two gates each have to be reserved for locals, emergency entry and cash transactions. All other lanes are to be used for FASTag.

Mangaluru, Apr 14: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today wished the people of Tulu Nad a Happy Bishu in Tulu language.

Yediyurappa took to Twitter on Tuesday and wrote in Tulu, 'Happy Vishu to everyone! A new year brings new hope and new energy. May the coming year bring good health and well-being in everyone’s lives.'

Bishu – the traditional New Year for the Hindus in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, which begins from Tuesday is believed to signal the arrival of good luck and fortune for the coming year.

Shivamogga, Jul 24: The protest by Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) under the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) entered its 14th day on Friday demanding personal protective equipment (PPE) kits and a salary of at least Rs 12,000 per month.

They have been protesting in different parts of Karnataka since July 10.

Staging a protest in front of the deputy commissioner's office, the ASHA workers complained of the government turning a deaf ear to their problems.

Clad in their signature pink saris, they raised slogans to demand appropriate salary for their work and the necessary equipment to protect them from the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. 

They said that they worked tirelessly during the COVID-19-induced lockdown without any safety. The department only provided them with sub-standard equipment to combat the deadly virus. All they were asking for is a basic pay of Rs 12,000 against the current pay of Rs 6,000.

Prema, an ASHA said, "The authorities are praising our work, clapping for us and showering flowers on us but are not listening to our grievances."
