Padubidri, February 7: In a fire accident, two bundles of currency notes of Rs 500 denomination, were burnt in a house at Hejamady village on Saturday night.
Two bundles of currency notes worth Rs 90,000 kept in a wooden almirah by Adka Dayanand Kotian, the owner of the house, burnt into ashes as a kerosene lamp fell on it.
According to sources, the family members had slept after lighting the lamp near the almirah as there was no electricity. The lamp might have been fallen due to movement of rats in the house, it is suspected.
Dayananda Kotian has lent the money to construct a new house.
One bundle has burnt completely while the other partially. Clothes in almirah were also burnt.
