Kanyana: 15 injured as Milad rally vehicle overturns

Vitla/Kanyana, February 15: About 15 people were injured, two of them seriously, after a Milaad rally vehicle overturned at Mandiyur near Kanyana on Tuesday, February 15.


The vehicle which was reportedly carrying about 18 people, overturned when it reached a sharp curve near Mandiyur. The injured included 11 students as well.

The injured have been identified as Abubakkar (25), Ismail (21), Khaleel (15), Musthafa (18), Ismail (38), Ansar (17), Abdul Basheer (20), Abdul Hameed (25), Ameer Ali (17), Jamal (18), Akber Ali (16), Ibrahim Samad (16), Muhammad Sanad (15), Riyaz (15) and Abdul Kareem (18).

The incident took place when they were returning home in the pick up jeep after participating in a vehicle rally held as part of Milad-un-Nabi from Mithanadka to Anekal. Riyaz and Kareem have been admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore as they have sustained some serious injuries.

The others have been admitted to Suraksha Health Center, Vitla.

Mangaluru, Jan 20: A suspicious unattended laptop bag with the suspicion of containing “something harmful” was found abandoned at the Mangaluru International Airport on Monday.

The bag was found kept in the rest area meant for the passengers outside the airport. According to reports, two men came in auto and left the bag near the ticket counter, which is near the VIP vehicles parking area.

The bag, which was lying unattended near the entrance of the airport was removed from the spot by the airport security personnel at 8.45 am.

Bomb detection squad personnel has rushed to the spot and shifted the bag to a safe zone, said Mangaluru Commissioner of Police P S Harsha.

Bengaluru, May 1: Karnataka has reported 11 new cases of coronavirus, taking the State's count to 576, informed the Health Department on Friday.

Out of the total COVID-19 cases found in the State, 235 people have been discharged and 22 people have died.

"11 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Karnataka from April 30, 5 pm till noon today, taking the total number of cases to 576, which includes 22 deaths and 235 discharges," said the State government COVID-19 bulletin.

Bengaluru, Mar 27: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Friday formed a task force to monitor the spread of COVID-19 disease in the state and provide guidelines and suggestions to contain its proliferation in the state.

In a press release, the KPCC has stated that the 15 member committee will be headed by the senior Congress leader and former Health minister K R Rameshkumar also included two other former health ministers, Shivanand Patil and U T Khader as the members of the committee.
