DC orders issue of show cause notice to Kasba Revenue Inspectors

Mangalore, February 16: Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav has directed the concerned authority to issue show cause notices to three Revenue Inspectors of Kasba village in Belthangady for delay in disposing files.

The action follows a surprise visit paid by him to Belthangady taluk office where he went through files pertaining to various social security and pension schemes.

More than 500 files pertaining to social security schemes including pension for handicapped persons, Sandhya Suraksha Scheme, widow pension and so on were not disposed, according to a press release issued by Deputy Commissioner.

During the visit, the DC found that 11 files for handicapped, 23 files of Sandhya Suraksha, 33 files of widow pensions were not disposed since October 18, 2010 at Kokkada hobli in Belthangady taluk.

At Venur, 13 files related to handicapped persons, 105 files of Sandhya Suraksha, 22 files of widow pensions are not disposed since October 20, 2010 while in Kasba 171 files of handicapped persons, 149 and 9 files of Sandhya Suraksha and widow pensions respectively, were not disposed.

Mangaluru, May 17: With the detection of two more covid-19 positive cases in Mangaluru, the total number of cases in Dakshina Kannada today mounted to 52.

A 35-year-old woman who was under quarantine along with her husband after returning from Maharashtra today tested positive for the coronavirus. 

A 31-year-old man also tested positive for covid-19.  More details to follow.

Bengaluru, Jan 8: CISF personnel at Bengaluru airport on Wednesday detained two persons after they found two live bullets in their baggage during the routine inspection.

The detained person, said to be of a Mangaluru origin who arrived at the airport on Wednesday morning has claimed to be serving the American military. His mother who had arrived with him too has been taken into custody.

According to officials during the questioning, the man said that he was on a leave and that as he had hurriedly packed his belongings at the last minute there was a possibility that the bullets might have fallen into his bag mistakenly.

Mangaluru, Apr 25: Heavy rain lashed Mangaluru and surrounding areas on Saturday, providing the people respite from the sweltering heat, which they have been experiencing for the last few weeks. 

The rain, which started around 10.30 pm on Friday, lashed heavily after 2 am. Later, there was drizzle for sometime before it stopped raining around 8 am. 

People were seen walking towards the market to purchase essential commodities holding an umbrella and wearing a raincoat.
