Udupi, February 16: “It's our duty to spread virtues or goodness and try to eradicate the evils in the society. Evils such as alcohol, drugs, immorality, and exploitation of women have damaged the health of the society. Fighting against such evils is an integral part of our faith” said Moulvi Abdussalam Uppingadi, Regional Organizer, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind who was here to deliver a talk on the valedictory ceremony of 'Khaire Ummath” campaign here in Jamia Masjid, Udupi.

“Evils should be countered with goodness. By doing this, your enemy will turn into your closest friend”, he said.

Moulana Hamid Umri, General Secretary of Muslim Muttahida Maaz, Shimoga district, said that women's protection in India is a major problem. Citing Renuka Chowdhary that “in our country, all the efforts to safeguard women have failed”, he said that the problem needs immediate attention.

Akber Ali in his inaugural address, expressed concern that people, who know that mishandling of cooking gas could cause an explosion, are not realizing that the TVs can also blow up their houses, with the kind of evils it spreads.
