Young Sumeet Mehta's artwork on display at art exhibition

Mangalore, February 23: Lausibility, a three day solo show by Sumeet Mehta (Uppal), a young artist, was inaugurated on Wednesday at Prasad Art Gallery here.

Speaking on the occasion Mehta said that there is a lot that she has learnt but much more to be done. “I have miles to go before I sleep, and like all famous artists I want to leave my footprints in the sands of time”, she added.

The 26 year old Mehta, began her artistic career participating in various art exhibitions, art camps and workshops. After her SSLC, she completed her Bachelor and Master's degree in painting at prestigious Lalit Kala Samsthan, Agra. She also has bagged a number of awards for her paintings.

The show will be open for public between 10.00am to 7:00pm till Friday, February 25. Koti Prasad Alva, proprietor of Prasad Art Gallery, Ishpreet Mehta and others were present during the inaugural programme.

Bengaluru, Jul 30: Karnataka reported 83 deaths and 6,128 new cases in the state on Thursday. With this, the total number of cases in the state stood at 1,18,632, the state health ministry said.

Currently, there are 69,700 active cases, while a total of 2,230 people have lost their lives due to the pandemic till now.

There are 15,83,792 confirmed cases across the country. Of them, 5,28,242 cases remain active. While 10,20,582 have recovered, 34,968 patients have lost their lives due to the pandemic.

Mangaluru, Apr 12: Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has appealed to the Additional Chief Secretary to Karnataka government Jawaid Akhtar to exclude Dakshina Kannada district from hotspot/ red zone area pertaining to coronavirus, saying that the district has not reported any new case since last five days.

KCCI president Isaac Vas said DK district has not reported any new case of COVID-19 in the last five days. Of the 12 cases reported in the district, six are from Kasargod and one from Bhatkal.

None of the patients suffering from coronavirus are in ICU or put on ventilator, he said in a statement.

Udupi, May 18: As many as eight fresh coronavirus positive cases have been reported in coastal districts of Udupi and Uttara Kannada. 

No fresh positive case was reported in Dakshina Kannada since yesterday.

According to Health and Family Welfare Department, two men aged 38 and 24 years, an 8-year-old boy and a 24-year-old woman tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district today. 

All of them were under quarantine after returning from Maharashtra recently. They were shifted to covid-19 hospital for treatment. With this the number of covid-19 positive cases in Udupi district mounted to 15.

Meanwhile, Uttara Kannada district also received a jolt with four more cases. Yesterday it had reported eight cases.
