Govt. sanctions nine road development works in Udupi

Udupi, February 23: Government has sanctioned nine road development works, totaling 20.61 kilometers, at a cost of Rs 6.5 crores, in Udupi Assembly constituency.

The roads, to be developed from Chief Minister's Rural Road Development Fund, include 2.49 km stretch Neelavara Temple road in Kunjalu Grama Panchayath limits (Rs 53.50 lakhs), 1.98 km stretch Tadalu road in Karje Grama Panchayath (65 lakhs), 2.19 km stretch Arbi road in Nalkur Grama Panchayath (87.35 lakhs), one km stretch Mooduthottam Bailu road in Kokkarne Grama Panchayath limits (35.88 lakhs), 3.57 km long Cherkadi road in Cherkadi Grama Panchayath limits (1.10 crore), 2.16 km stretch Sooralu Kangibettu – Karje road in Kokkarne and Karje grama panchayath limits (76.78 lakhs), 1.31 km stretch Kumragodu road in Handadi grama panchayath limits (3.61 lakhs) and 3.21 km stretch Jathabettu Belmar road in Uppoor grama panchayath limits (Rs 1 crore).

According Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat Department of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana would implement this project. Under the project, roads would be asphalted with favor finish and rain water drains on either side of the road.


Contractors would develop this road under build-operate and transfer model for five years, MLA said.

Bantwal, Apr 27: Following the meeting at a guest house here, district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary instructed the officials to stringently impose the lockdown in the taluka.

He stated that there will be no relaxation and exemptions in Bantwla till May 3 and ASHA workers will be continuing surveying houses in Bantwal Kasba and Narikombu.

Two people have already died from COVID-19 in the taluka and two new cases were reported in the past week.

Bengaluru, Mar 30: Army personnel on Sunday distributed food packets and other essential items to the needy and sprayed Calcium Hypochlorite solution in Koramangala and Vanarpet areas amid the coronavirus lockdown.

The Central government had on Tuesday announced a 21-day lockdown in a bid to stop the spread of the deadly virus that has left several thousand dead globally.

A total of 979 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in India, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.

Bengaluru, May 25: With the reporting of 93 more fresh cases of COVID-19, the total number of pandemic cases were surged to 2182 in Karnataka on Monday.

According to official sources, highest number of new cases of COVID-19 pandemic, were reported from Udupi (32), Kalaburagi (16), Yadagiri (15), Bengaluru Urban (08), Dakshina Kannada (04) in the last 24-hours in the state.

The fresh cases were also reported form Mandya, Belagavi, Ramanagara, Vijayapura, Kolara, Ballari and Dharwada district.
