Beary Parishath urges DC to include Muslims, Christians working abroad in census

Mangalore, February 26: Akhila Bharatha Beary Parishath has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Census Officers of New Delhi and Bangalore through the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner who is also Chief District Census Officer requesting to include the names and details of Indian citizens who are working in foreign countries, in the census of 2011.

The Parishat also demanded to make provision for providing details of census of each person and also to allow filing of objections with regard to the inaccurate data accumulation.

The delegation led by President of Parishat Abdul Majeed Suralpady, BA Muhammad Haneef, Working President, Muhammad Kunjathbail, General Secretary submitted the memo to Additional Deputy Commissioner S Prabhakar Sharma.

In the memorandum, the Parishath informed that the persons involved in census work are not taking any details of Indian citizens who work abroad or if they have gone for short period for any reason.

Though the Muslims and Christians are Indian citizens and employed in foreign countries, census enumerators did not include their names and details. “This has caused injustice to the minority communities and it would affect the citizenship, identity matter, voting rights and other facilities,” the Parishat noted.

Muhammad Kunjathbail, General Secretary, CM Musthafa, Nazeer Bajal and FA Khader were present.

Bengaluru, Aug 7: The results of Karnataka Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations will be announced on Monday, August 10.

Primary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said, "The results will be announced at about 3 pm on August 10."

This year, over 8.50 lakh students appeared for the exams amidst the Covid-19 pandemic fear across the state.

The department conducted the exams successfully despite resistance from various quarters and pressure to postpone the exams.

Hubli, Feb 19: The Karnataka Police on Wednesday registered a case against unknown persons for assaulting three Kashmiri students in the court premises here.

A suo motu FIR has been registered at Vidyanagar police station of Hubli in which assault charges have been filed against 10 to 15 unknown people.

It can be recalled that on February 17 these three Kashmiri students were attacked in court premises after they were produced in court on charges of sedition.

The Kashmiri students were arrested here on February 15 after their video in which they are seen allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans went viral.

The students were studying at the KLE Institute of Technology on a central government scholarship.

Udupi, Apr 18: The Adamaru Mutt and Mutt-owned educational institutions donated fifty five lakhs, fifty five thousand, five hundred and fifty five rupees to the PM-CARES Fund on Friday.

Sri Vishwakapriyattirtha Sripada, while donating the amount, delivered the message that in these difficult times in our country, the government has no sources of tax revenue but the cost of various departments especially public health expenses are increasing.
