RSS meet in Puttur from March 11, Mohan Bhagwat to attend

Mangalore March 6: The annual meeting of Akhil Bharateeya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), the highest body for policy formulation and decision making of Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), will be held at Vivekananda Education Institute in Puttur between March 11 and March 13.

According to a press release, representatives elected from RSS-Shakhas of all regions of the country, State-level office-bearers of RSS, national office-bearers of Sangh affiliated (Sangh Parivar) organisations will attend all the three days of the meeting.

Prominent leaders from Bharateeya Kisan Sangh, working for the farmers; Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram, a tribal welfare organisation; Akhil Bharateeya Vidyarthi Parishad, one of the biggest student organisation of the country; Bharateeya Mazdoor Sangh, a leading trade union; Vishwa Hindu Parishad, a forum of sadhus, sants and pontiffs; Bharatiya Janata Party, one of the two most important political parties of India; are attending the meeting.

Office-bearers of Vidhya Bharati, Vijnana Bharati, Kreeda Bharati, Seva Bharati, Samskrit Bharati, Samskar Bharati, Laghu Udyog Bharati as well as leaders from Rashtra Sevika Samithi, Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, Deendayal Samshodhan Samsthan, Bharat Vikas Parishad, Shaikshanika Mahasangh, Dharmajagaran will be participating in the conclave.

Several organisations with special focus like – Sakshama, working for the blind; Seema Suraksha Parishat, which is committed to boost confidence among people of border districts, Poorva Sainik Parishat, working among retired soldiers will be represented in the meeting.

Reports of activities of all these organisations will be submitted in the meeting. State wise activities of the RSS will be reviewed. Important national issues will be discussed and necessary resolutions will be passed in the meeting.

More than 1,200 social workers of different walks of life from nook and corner of the country will be participating in the meeting. It is interesting to note that a small taluk head quarter with a population of around 50,000 is hosting such an important event.
As a part of ABPS, a mammoth gathering of RSS Swayamsevaks 'Sanghik' has been organised on March 6 at the premises of Vivekananda High School located at Puttur by-pass road. More than 15,000 swayamsevaks and thousands of well wishers are expected to participate. RSS Sarasanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat will address the gathering, states a release.

New Delhi, Apr 15: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday urged the government to organise flights to bring back Indian workers stuck in the Middle East and desperate to return.

He said the workers are in deep distress there due to shutting of businesses in the Middle East due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The Covid19 crisis and shutting of businesses in the Middle East have left thousands of Indian workers in deep distress and desperate to return home.

"The Government must organise flights to bring home our brothers and sisters most in need of assistance, with quarantine plans in place," he said on Twitter.

Bengaluru, Jan 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday arrived at the Yelahanka air base by a special plane on a two-day visit to Karnataka to attend events in Tumakuru and Bengaluru.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Union Ministers D V Sadananda Gowda and Pralhad Joshi and state Revenue Minister R Ashoka were present to welcome Modi.

Yediyurappa greeted the Prime Minister by garlanding him and offering a shawl and adorned him with a Mysuru Peta (turban).

Later, Modi flew to Tumakuru to attend events at the Siddaganga Math apart from addressing a gathering and to present the Krishi Karman Award.

In the evening, the Prime Minister will visit the DRDO facility to dedicate five DRDO Young Scientists Laboratories to the nation.

He will stay at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

On Friday, Modi will inaugurate the 107th Indian Science Congress at the University of Agriculture Science in Bengaluru.

New Delhi, Mar 25: The exercise to update the National Population Register (NPR) and the first phase of the Census 2021 will not be held as scheduled due to the 21-day lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials said on Tuesday.

Both the exercises were supposed to be carried out from April 1 to September 30.
Due to the prevailing situation, the NPR and Census exercises have been deferred till further orders, a senior home ministry official said.
The Prime Minister has announced a 21-day lockdown across the country from Tuesday night due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
