Gurupura murder: One more arrested

Mangalore, March 6: The Panambur police on Saturday arrested one more person in connection with the murder of Kabir Gurupura on February 25.

The arrested has been identified as Manoj (29), resident of Jokatte Shediguri in Thokoor village.


The police said Manoj was behind the planning and execution of the murder. He was arrested at Moodbidri police station on Saturday at 10 am.

Police have confiscated a motorbike, a mobile set and a backseat of Scorpio.

They said five cases have been registered against the accused in Panambur police station while three cases including a murder have been registered in Surathkal police station.

Under the guidance of City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, DCP R Ramesh, ACP Puttamadaiah, Panambur Circle Inspector Valentine D'Souza, Bajpe Sub Inspector Laxman Eligar and staff took part in the operation.

The police have already arrested six alleged associates.

Bengaluru, Mar 5: Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal's wife Priya Bansal has filed a dowry harassment case against the entrepreneur at Kormangala police station in Bengaluru, sources said.

Priya alleged that ahead of their wedding, her father had spent Rs 50 lakh for the arrangements and given Rs 11 lakh in cash to Sachin instead of a car. Further, she has also alleged that Sachin has been pressurising her to transfer all the properties that were in her name to him. However, after refusing to do so her in-laws started harassing her.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Sachin and three others at Kormangala police station in Bengaluru.

The police are investigating the matter.

Puttur, Apr 6: A person reportedly has been booked for allegedly posting derogatory remarks against minority community on social media platforms.

The accused is reported to be a resident of Belandur village of Puttur Taluk.
The case has been registered at Bellare Police Station.

According to the reports, Kusumadhara had posted derogatory remarks about the faith and minority community. A complaint in this regard was filed by Savanur SDPI member Mohammed Saheer at Bellare Police Station, adding that his remarks in the post would create divide and communal disturbance in the society.

Mangaluru, Apr 29: District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Wednesday inaugurated a mobile fever clinic to cure COVID-19 patients.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has converted one of its buses into a clinic in Mangaluru to treat COVID-19 patients.

The mobile fever clinic has a bed for the patient and a cabin for the doctor. There is also a seating facility, medicine box, wash-basin, sanitizer, soap oil, a separate water facility, and fans.
