Puttur, March 7: The people of Jammu and Ladakh, 4 lakh Kashmir Pandits, 33,000 Sikhs and a section of Muslims who are the residents of Kashmir desire Jammu and Kashmir to remain as an integral part of India.

It is only the minority population of separatists who are creating the entire turmoil. There is a need to take a firm decision so as to retain Jammu and Kashmir in our nation, said RSS Sarsangh Chalak Mohan Bhagavat.

He was addressing the RSS Swayamsevaks at a mammoth gathering 'Sanghik' organised at the premises of Vivekananda High School here on Sunday as a prologue to the annual meeting of Akhil Bharateeya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) to be held from March 11. Putting across his thoughts over the Kashmir issue, he said the issue has been complicated by the government.

“Due to the wrong political decisions taken in the past, Kashmir became a sensitive matter. And the stand taken by us all these years, the way in which the problem has been addressed has augmented the problem rather than solving it. Perhaps India is the only nation in the world which is having uncertaininty over its own territory,” he lamented.

Expressing his concern over the vote bank politics, he criticised a section of political parties for differentiating between the voters. Just for the sake of minority votes, a political party dares to call India as a nation with majority terrorists (Hindus). If Hindus themselves are called as terrorists in their own nation, then what we can expect from such parties? he questioned.

Quoting the views of Noble laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Bhagavat said, Tagore in his essay on 'Swadeshi Samaj' has clearly said, a day will come when the Indians will find a way out to solve the problems prevailing between the Hindus and the Muslims in India and that solution will be in the form of Hindutva.

“Hinduism is the strength of our nation. Despite Muslim kings ruling India for about 500 years, none of their tactics could weaken the spirit of Hindu culture. But as the former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam has said, the Hindus have remained as slaves because they refuse to use the power,” he opined.

Bhagavat asked all the RSS workers to work towards an objective that is to reform and strengthen the country. Passing remarks on those who join RSS with an intention to get a ticket in the election he said, “If you are joining RSS with the selfish motives then it is not the right place.”

RSS leader Suresh Joshi, Mangalore region Saha Sanghachalak Dr Vaman Shenoy, District-in-Charge Minister Krishna J Palemar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Yogish Bhat and others were present on the occassion.

New Delhi, Feb 29: The arsonists, who were allegedly hired by the pro-CAA politicians in Delhi to unleash violence against Muslims, did not even spare the residence of Border Security Force personnel Mohammed Anees.

While the jawan, who has spent three years guarding the borders along Jammu and Kashmir, had hoped that his job profile mentioned on the nameplate hung outside their two-storey house would discourage the vandals, he was proved wrong.

The nameplate on house number 76 in Khas Khajuri Gali clearly mentioned it was the property of a security force personnel who protects India’s borders from foreign invasions. Yet, it was burned down on the afternoon of February 25.

First, the ruthless goons set the vehicles parked outside the jawan’s house on fire, then they torched his home. Stones were also pelted at his house amid slogans of “idhar aa Pakistani, tujhe naagarikta dete hai” (Come here Pakistani, get your citizenship).

Apart from Anees, his father Mohammed Moonis, 55, uncle Mohd Ahmed, 59, and 18-year-old cousin Niha Parveen were in the house. Sensing what was about to go down next, they all escaped from the house, and were helped by paramilitary troops.

Charred remains of the house now stand where the house was till three days ago. In the two lanes of Khajuri Khas near Anees’s house, 35 houses were set on fire.

The loss suffered by the BSF soldier’s family was perhaps greater as they had kept all their life’s savings inside: two weddings in the family were to take place in the next three months.

Niha Parveen was to get married in April and Anees himself was to get married the following month. “All the things we collected all our life, jewellery – two gold necklaces, silver jewellery, it is all gone,” the family said.

“We used to buy jewellery on instalments… used to give money every month and collected this jewellery,” they said. Rs 3 lakh in cash for the wedding arrangements also got burnt along with other valuables and all their belongings.

Khajuri Khas is a Hindu-majority area, but Anees’s family says no neighbour of theirs was involved in the attack. “People came from outside.” Instead, their Hindu neighbours were asking the rioters to leave. They requested them to leave and helped douse the vehicles on fire.

Bengaluru, Feb 14: After the swearing-in of ten former JDS and Congress MLAs, political boundaries seem to have become more fluid, with little clarity on who is on whose side. When Honnali BJP MLA Renukacharya visited senior Congressman DK Shivakumar at the latter’s residence, many eyebrows were raised over the reason behind the meeting. There was speculation over why Renukacharya would be meeting a man who is, in all likelihood, slated to be the next KPCC president.

Renukacharya reacted to the rumours by making the meet sound purely professional. He said, “We have a three-day Krushi Sammlan in Honnali, and I went to invite him (DKS) for it.’’   Shivakumar also remained tight-lipped over the real reason behind the meeting, and corroborated Renukacharya’s story. However, insiders claim that the two discussed other issues too. It may be recalled that Renukacharya had openly rebelled against Yediyurappa in 2009.

Bengaluru, May 15: There is no trace of community spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Karnataka due to the strict measures taken by the State Government, Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said on Friday.

All those tested positive for the virus here have arrived from other states and are currently being treated in quarantine centres, he tweeted.

Over 25 per cent of the COVID-19 positive cases, which were detected in the state, were related to those who had either come from abroad or other states, and only about 7 per cent cases were associated with the influenza-like diseases, his tweet further read.
