Kasargod, March 10: Police arrested Narasimha Naik (48) the accused in the Kumbla girls molestation case in Thekkot on the Kerala-Karnataka border on Thursday. A case under section 353 and 356 of the IPC for molestation and rape has been registered against him.

Narasimha Naik who was running a gambling den in Kumbla allegedly molested five girls belonging to Dalit families by luring them with sweets and money.

According to police, the accused had confessed to his crime that he had molested five girls between the age of 10 to 12 at his gambling den on several occasions.

Police however have denied the version that 20 to 30 girls were molested and said it as a mere exaggeration of the incident.

Meanwhile, Youth Congress activists took out a march to the Kumbla police station in protest against the assault on media persons.

Various organisations took out marches to the school where the students were studying. But the teachers of the school said it was because of their efforts that the incident came to light.

The school PTA, however, appealed to the public not to take out marches to the school since it would affect the future of the students.
