Mangalore, March 11: The Dakshina Kannada District administration has taken precautionary measures and keeping a close watch on all vulnerable areas in view of massive Tsunami in Japan.
The warning comes following an alert fax message issued by the Chief Secretary of the department of disaster management, government of Karnataka.
As part of precautionary measures, rescue and relief teams will be on standby for emergency duties.
The most powerful earthquake to hit Japan in at least 100 years unleashed walls of water on Friday that swept across rice fields, engulfing towns, dragging houses onto highways and tossing cars and boats like toys. Local media reported at least 50 deaths, with more casualties feared.
