March 21, 2011
Udupi, March 21: “Where was the need for Operation Lotus? In the name of Operation Lotus many politicians, without a reputation, were brought to the party field. They were unaware of the party's policy and principles. Least bothered about the party organization and cadres. The incumbents were issued tickets and made to win spending crores of rupees”, these were the outbursts of State BJP President KS Eshwarappa, at the inauguration of the convention of heads of BJP Shakthi Kendras in Udupi and DK districts, held at Hafsa Auditorium, Udyavara here on Sunday.

He said that when they realized all that was against the interests of the party 16 scheming MLAs were ousted, staking the government at risk. This was amounted to a warning to remaining MLAs.

“Only committed and obedient party activists will be issued the party tickets for elections”, Eswarappa said.

Corruption in the state is rampant and exploding in series. All those are pending at the courts, he said. Earlier speaking to press persons Eshwarappa said that neither Yedyurappa nor Eshwarappa could spoil the party prospects. Replying another question former Minsiter for Power said that necessary action would be taken to protect the interests of the coal based power plant promoted by UPCL.
