Malpractice in PUC exam: Two arrested

Mangalore, March 23: Vittal police have arrested two persons for impersonation in the second PU examination at the Government PU College in Kanyana.



The arrested have been identified as Pradeep Kumar from Hebri and Murali from Gaudribidanur. They were trying to write second PU Economics paper for other students.



Meanwhile, another person, who was also writing the exam as an impersonator, managed to flee from the scene when the officials arrived. Students identified his as Vikram, a student of a college in Puttur.



Pradeep, Murali and Vikram were writing the examinations in places of Shahul Hamid, Roshan and Guruprsad respectively, who had registered themselves as private candidates for the examination.

Udupi/Mangaluru, Apr 3: As many as 11 liquor addicts in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts have committed suicide, due to non-availability of liquor.

It is said that the District administration, in association with Psychiatrists, have taken the initiative to provide counselling services, along with telemedicine, to the addicts.

Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh said on Thursday that arrangements will be made to provide treatments and personal counselling for the liquor addicts.

Mangaluru, Apr 29: District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Wednesday inaugurated a mobile fever clinic to cure COVID-19 patients.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has converted one of its buses into a clinic in Mangaluru to treat COVID-19 patients.

The mobile fever clinic has a bed for the patient and a cabin for the doctor. There is also a seating facility, medicine box, wash-basin, sanitizer, soap oil, a separate water facility, and fans.

Udupi, Jan 8: Senior journalist Raviraj Valalambe passed away due to suspected cardiac arrest on Tuesday night at his residence in Kinnimulki, here. He was 50.

Raviraj was rushed to a hospital after he complained of chest pain. He breathed his last on way to medical facility.

He was the director of Prime TV, a local Kannada news channel.

He had worked as a reporter for ETV and Suvarna News channel earlier.

He is survived by wife and two daughters.
