Investment Management Workshop held at AIMIT

Mangalore, April 5: The inaugural of the workshop on Investment Management organized AIMIT, St Aloysius College, Mangalore, was held on April 5, at the AIMIT campus, St Aloysius College, Beeri.

This course is an ADD-ON programme for the second year MBA students of MBA. The course provides knowledge in investment planning to the students.

Shawn Pereira, Staff Co-coordinator for the programme, welcomed the gathering. Gerald Colaco, who was the chief guest and the resource person, inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp. Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo S.J., Director AIMIT, Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Oswald Mascarenhas S.J, Chairman-MBA Programs, Shawn Pereira, Faculty Coordinator, were present on the dais.

Gerald Colaco gave the insight on the sessions ahead. Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo gave his message stating the example of Warren Buffet who started investing at a young age of 11 years and went on to become the richest person in the world in 2008. He also mentioned that Warren Buffet has pledged 99% of his wealth in philanthropy. Fr Lobo encouraged students to inculcate the attitude frugal living and of giving. He also stressed the importance of investing early in life.

Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Oswald Mascarenhas S.J, Chairman-MBA Programs, gave his message of going in for patience investment and especially stressed the need of investing in oneself.

The ceremony culminated with the vote of thanks proposed by Rohith NR .

Bengaluru, May 7: Karnataka Minister for Labour Shivaram Hebbar, on Thursday, ordered issuance of notice to employers who have not paid salary to the workers during lockdown period amid Coronavirus threat in the state.

The Ministry has also directed serving notice to those employers who have reduced the wages of the workers in April '20, official sources told UNI here.

State Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had appealed to the employers not to retrench any employee from the job because of their failure to attend to work because of Coronavirus which is spreading like wildfire and since they have been asked to remain in the house.

Mangaluru, May 24: A 42 –year-old man who was the secondary contact of P 1233 has been tested positive for COVID 19, in Dakshina Kannada on Sunday.

The man is being treated at the designated COVID-19 hospital in Mangaluru. With this, DK has registered a total of 66 positive cases with 34 active cases.

P 1233 was a 30-year-old man who had inter-state travel history from Maharashtra, said DK DC Sindhu B Rupesh.

The news case took the district's covid tally to 66 and 34 of them are active cases.

Mangaluru, Jul 20:  Ananthapadmanabha temple at Kudupu on the outskirts of Mangaluru will be closed for devotees on the occasion of Nagara Panchami on July 25 due to Covid-19.

Ananthapadmanabha temple at Kudupu is one of the famous temples in Dakshina Kannada dedicated to Naga (Serpent God) where Nagara Panchami is celebrated in a grand way.  The temple committee said that "Nagara Panchami will be observed on July 25. To avoid large gatherings, the entry of devotees is banned. The devotees should not visit the temple, thereby extend cooperation with the temple committee."

On the day of Nagara Panchami, no sevas, theertha and prasadam will be distributed. There will be no mass feeding as well.
