Skeleton of old lady found at her residence

Mangalore, June 24: A skeleton of an old lady was found at her residence near KPT, Kadri here on Thursday noon. Neighbours suspect the lady has been murdered.

The victim is identified as, Maria Arana (76), who had lost her husband few years ago and would stay alone at her house. It is suspected that the lady must have been died nearly 8 months ago.

The skeleton was handed over to private hospital to investigate whether the death of lady was natural or whether it was a case of murder. However, the doctors reported the death as natural.

Jasmin, Resident of Lower Bendoor has lodged the complaint stating that the lady was ill for the last 8 months which resulted in her death.

One of the neighbours of this ill fated old lady told mediapersons press that the lady had a property of 25 cents around her residence and had spent 40 years in this house. She did not have cordial relationships with her relatives too. Nearly eight months ago few youngsters attempted to kill her but somehow she succeeded in getting away. “The very next day we complained to the police regarding the attempt to kill the old lady, following which, the police took the lady to hospital and provided medical care”, the neighbor said.


“Two days later the old lady informed us that the same youngsters had come to her house but vacated the place when the she started screaming. At same time her hand was bleeding and we empathized with the lady by offering meals. Two days later, she was not to be seen, which made us feel she must have gone to her relatives' house”, said another neighbour.

Many youngsters smoke ganja near her house and the house is surrounded by large trees due to which we ignored the stinking smell assuming that some animal must have died, the neighbours added.

Bengaluru, Jan 18: The searches by income-tax officials at the residence of south Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna at Virajpet in Kodagu district were concluded on Friday.

The searches, conducted since Thursday by sleuths from Bengaluru, were concluded on Friday morning, the family said.

Speaking to reporters outside the house, the actress's mother Suman said: "We all cooperated with the officials since Thursday. The officials asked some questions which we answered properly."

Rashmika, who was not at the residence when the I-T officials arrived, joined them on Thursday night, she added.

According to sources, IT officials from Bengaluru who arrived in three cars on Thursday verified documents pertaining to properties, bank accounts and investments.

Rashmika has acted in several Kannada and Telugu movies. Her recent film 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' opposite popular Telugu actor Mahesh Babu is in the theatres now.

Bengaluru, May 13: The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (K-CET) 2020 will be held on July 30 and 31.

The test, earlier as scheduled to be held on April 22, 23 and 24, was postponed due to COVID-19 crisis and the nation-wide lockdown.

Now, considering the dates for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) dates announced by the Union government, the state government has announced the revised dates on Wednesday.

Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan announced this in a press conference. The test will be held online, the minister said. 

For CET 2020, over 1.90 lakh students registered for admission to undergraduate engineering, B Tech, Architecture, Agriculture and veterinary science courses.

Home quarantine for repatriated pregnant women, children, senior citizens if they test covid-19 negative 

The Union Health Ministry has revised its discharge guidelines for COVID-19 patients, stating that only those with severe illness need to be tested (through a swab test) and a negative report needs to be obtained before discharge.

The latest guideline adds that other categories of patients, including very mild, mild, pre-symptomatic and moderate cases, need not be tested before discharge.

Mangaluru, Mar 1: Noted Konkani writer and theater personality Richard John Pais died on Sunday after a brief illness, family sources said.

He was 51. He is survived by wife and two children.

Known in literary circles as ‘RJP’, his short stories, satirical writings, and poems were very popular.
