Mangalore, June 26: Social Democratic of India (SDPI) staged a demonstration near the office of Deputy Commissioner here on Saturday to protest against the hike in prices of diesel, kerosene and cooking gas on Saturday.
Addressing the protesters, Akbar Ali, District General Secretary of SDPI said, “Price hike is a direct attack on poor and middle class people who is struggling for their day to day survival.
The government which is supposed to work for the welfare of the people of the country, began to loot the people's hard earned money ever since it came to power, he said.
Nazir Sajipa, SDPI district unit vice president called upon the President of India to intervene and ask the Centre not to put extra burden on the citizens.
Abdul Jaleel K, Siddiq and Salim Guruvayakere were present among others.
