Mangalore, July 5: The anti-communal violence bill drafted by Sonia Gandhi's National Advisory Council (NAC) has come under attack by the members of Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi who staged a demonstration in front of Deputy Commissioner's Office here on Tuesday, dubbing the bill as 'anti-Hindu'

Addressing the protesters, Lakshmeesha Gabladka, Vice President, Federation of Temples and Religious Institutions said the draft of 'Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill, 2011' is aimed to curb the rights of majority Hindus in 'their own country'

Flaying at Congress led UPA government, Mr Gabladka said that the 'double standard' government wanted to exploit the Hindus in unpatriotic ways, adding that the bill has full of 'flaws and ambiguities' which will enable to collectively harass Hindus in the name of checking communal violence.

He said according to one of Articles in the bill, if a Muslim woman is subjected to rape by Hindus, she should be compensate at the sum of Rs 3 lakh, however, if the Hindu woman raped by minorities would get only Rs 30,000. “Where the so called feminists like Gowri Lankesh and Jayamala have gone this time?” he asked.

He said the bill is not applicable when Christians and Muslims fight each other; it is only to curtail the freedom of speech and expression of Hindus.

He said the bill will also tighten the screws of Police and Army in such a way that they will be compelled to take sides with the minorities even when they (minorities) are the criminals. It enables minorities to file complaint against police and army, he said.

He also threatened a nationwide “revolution” if government enacts this bill as law. “It is inevitable to revolt against government as well as bill since they only prepared this situation. Our generation-next should not blame us for not revolting against the bill” he said.

“We will strengthen the people to fight against this bill and make awareness about the draconian effect on the majority if the bill becomes law,” he said.

The protesters shouted slogans against Sonia Gandhi, UPA government and against the anti-communal violence Bill.

Anantha Kamath, Jagadish Shetty, Ramananda Gowda, Ramesh Nayak and others were among the protesters.
