Prof. N Sridhar Shetty endowment lecture on Saturday

Mangalore, July 6: The Alumni Association of A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences (ABSMIDS) will be organising a “Prof. (Dr.) N. Sridhar Shetty Annual Endowment Lecture” on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 10.00 A.M. at Vimshathi Bhavan, ABSMIDS, Deralakatte near here.

The Inaugural function will be presided by Chancellor of Nitte University, Dr. N. Vinaya Hegde. Former Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University Dr. N.R. Shetty will grace the occasion as Chief Guest.

Emeritus, Professor in Prosthodontics, Saveetha Dental College, Chennai, renowned internationally acclaimed Teacher Prof. E.G.R. Solomon and Head of Dept. of Community Dentistry, Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences, Virajpet, Prof. Jithesh will deliver the endowment lecture.

Prof. N. Sridhar Shetty is a Founder Dean and Director of Centre for Advanced Dentofacial Stomatognathic Sciences (CADSS) at ABSMIDS. He is the former president of Dental Council of India and is the recipient of prestigious Dr. B.C. Roy National Award.

This Endowment Lecture will be a regular annual feature which will coincide with the birthday of Prof. N. Sridhar Shetty and as a mark of respect, affection and gratitude to their beloved Principal by the old students of ABSMIDS.

Shivamogga, Feb 6: A youth, who allegedly uploaded pornography and inappropriate videos of children on social media, was arrested by the district CEN police after a tip-off from the CyberTipline.

The accused is a resident of Sorab taluk and is said to be below 18 years. He uploaded the objectionable content during April and May last year. He was traced based on the IP address of his computer and the mobile call records shared by the investigating agencies.

He was arrested in January under the provisions of the Information Technology Act 2000 and sent to judicial custody, said police sources.

Mangaluru, Apr 12: A 70-year-old woman who tested positive for COVID-19 got discharged from a hospital here on Sunday after she recovered from the novel coronavirus, said Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Sindu B Rupesh.

Seven other patients have also recovered and discharged in Dakshina Kannada till date. Total number of active cases in the district has decreased to 5 now.

As many as 232 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Karnataka till date.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India on Sunday climbed to 8447, including 764 cured and discharged, 1 migrated and 273 deaths, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Mangaluru, May 15: Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police on Friday warned those who are opposing quarantine to either go for it or face legal action under Epidemic Diseases Act.

In a release here on Friday, Mr B M Laxmi Prasad said that schools and hostels have been identified for quarantining those who arrive from other states. Those, who return, will be quarantined in the respective Gram Panchayat/local bodies’ jurisdiction. The public should not panic over the quarantine facility.

The quarantine facility has been introduced in the interest of the general public. If anyone opposes or protests against such facility, then legal action will be initiated against them, he warned.
