The Cadets were initially briefed on the different kinds of injuries that could result from a disaster, such as a bomb blast, for instance. The Officials of department of the fire and emergency services and health department gave lecture-demonstration on handling accidents involving high rise buildings, rescue operations, fire fighting, first-aid tips and managing people injured in such incidents.
The mock drill turned out to be so real that some commuters and public really wondered whether there was indeed an emergency operation going on.
“It was a convincing imitation of a real-life situation and the message reached students effectively. In future, they will know how to react during a disaster and help rescue workers,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner SA Prabhakar Sharma.
