Prof N Sridhar Shetty annual endowment lectures launched

Mangalore, July 9: Prof N Sridhar Shetty, Founder Principal of A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences has left an indelible impression in the field of Dental Education by way of his invaluable contributions and toiled for the all-round progress of the Institution by his record tenure of 21 years, said Dr. Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University in his inaugural address of “Prof N Sridhar Shetty Annual Endowment Lecture” held at ABSMIDS Auditorium on July 9, in honour of his birthday.

Dean (Academics) ABSMIDS Prof Krishna Nayak delivered the Dr Shetty Felicitation address and paid rich tributes on his achievements as a mentor of the Institution and this endowment lecture will be an annual feature here after, he informed.

Replying to the felicitation Prof N Sridhar Shetty recalled his very long tenure as a Principal and attributed his success to the hard work of the students, co-operation of the faculty members and the management. Students love and affection is his asset, he added.

On this occasion Emeritus, Professor in Prosthodontics, Saveetha Dental College, Chennai, renowned Internationally acclaimed Teacher Prof E G R Solomon delivered a endowment lecture on “Applied Anatomy of Temporomandibular Joint” and Head of Dept. of Community Dentistry, Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences, Virajpet, Prof Jithesh delivered a endowment lecture on “Concepts and Vision of Dr. N. Sridhar Shetty- An Insight” by audio-visual presentation.

On this occasion Dean ABSMIDS Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Prasad and Dr. Shubhan Alva were present.

President of Dental Council of India Dr. Mujamdar paid a surprise visit on this occasion.

The deceased was running a hotel named Hotel Samtappa here.

Bengaluru, Mar 23: Following the alarming increase in Coronavirus cases, Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao on Monday said that those subjected to home quarantine stamping would be arrested if they were found to visit public places.

"5,000 Home quarantine stamping was carried to ensure that they remain in home and not to be seen in public places for their own interest as well as in an attempt to prevent spread of Coronavirus", he tweeted.

"I have received information on some of those stamped are moving in BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses and sitting in restaurants. Please call 100, these people will be picked up, arrested and sent to government quarantine," Rao said.

Bengaluru, Jun 10: The Karnataka Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday conducted raids at 14 places linked to four government officials in the state.

On receiving received credible information about the officials amassing disproportionate assets, an illegal assets case was registered and raids are being conducted at 14 places linked to them, ACB said in a release.

It said the raids are still on and investigation is being carried out about their assets.

Raids are being conducted on properties linked to L Sathish Kumar, Additional Commissioner, Department of Commercial Tax; N Ramakrishna, Divisional Forest Officer, Srinivasapura, Kolar; Gopalshetty Mallikarjuna, Executive Engineer, District Development Cell, Raichur; Raghappa Lalappa Lamani, Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd official in Almatti, Bagalkote, the release said.
