Thrinethra' expo attracts art lovers

Mangalore, July 9: 'Thrinethra', a six day art exhibition of Paunduranga Rao, a former mechanical engineer of the Steel Authority of India, was inaugurated under the auspices of 'The Artists Combine', a city based forum on Saturday at Prasad Art Gallery here.

The expo was inaugurated by MRPL DGM (Corporate Communications) Lekshmi Kumaran.

Mr Paduranga Rao's amazing art called “Batik” which requires to wax and dye cloth to get designs attracted many art lovers.

Mr Rao was always passionate about art since childhood but took it seriously at the age of 20 when he started earning and could afford to buy the art related paraphernalia.

His paintings have been exhibited in Australia, Russia, Kolkota and Bangalore.

Ln Trevor Pinto, President of the Artist Combine presided over the function.

The 'Thrinethra' will be open till July 14 for exhibition cum sale in the Gallery.

Udupi, Jul 20: Five COVID Day Care Centres have been opened here on Monday with combined 870 bed for asymptomatic Covid-19 patients.

The Centres are set up at Karkala (1), Udupi (3) and Kundapura (1). Presently more than 100 patients are being treated in these Centres.

These Centres have been opened in the wake of high incidences of Covid-19 cases in the district. They are set up for asymptomatic patients who do not wish to be treated at home.

Bhatkal, Mar 30: Uttara Kannada district administration has decided to shift all those Bhatkal residents who have returned from abroad after March 15 to quarantine facilities in Bhatkal town to avoid further family contacts, Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada K Harish Kumar said on Monday.

“All primary contacts identified are already in government quarantine facilities,” he said in a communique.

All people must cooperate to maintain social distancing to avoid further spread of COVID-19, he added.

Mangaluru, Apr 18: Three people, including a woman, who were being treated at the city's Wenlock Hospital have been discharged after they recovered from Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

With this, a total of 12 people who had tested positive for the virus until Thursday have been discharged from various hospitals in Dakshina Kannada.

A 39-year-old advocate from Uppinangady tested positive for Covid -19 on Friday, he has been admitted to the Wenlock Hospital and is being treated. With this, only one COVID-19 positive patient is being treated at Wenlock Hospital till Friday evening.
