Manipal, July 12: From Manipal, a small education town in Udupi the coastal district of Karnataka, to the Royal Australian Air Force, Sudeep Sudhakar has blazed a glorious trail.

His “high-flying” feat is a rare distinction that has made everyone proud.

He has been inducted as an Aerospace Engineering Officer, along with a team of fellow engineers from Boeing, BAE and other contractors responsible for F/A-18 aircraft structures.

Indeed, a proud moment for his parents - father U Sudhakar Salian who is an officer in the Syndicate Bank, TAPMI and mother Yashvanti S Salian an Associate Professor of Commerce at MGM College, Udupi.

Sudeep had the full support of his parents in everything he did for all-round improvement. He was a bright student all through his school and college days. Madhava Kripa, Manipal, where he did his primary schooling and M.G. M. College Udupi where he completed his Pre-University education have reason to rejoice.

Sudeep shaped his future on the foundation laid in these colleges. He completed his bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore before proceeding to Australia for his post graduate degree in Product Development and Computational Fluid Dynamics from Deacon University. He then became an Australian resident.

Through school and college, Sudeep not only excelled with the books but was at sports. Athletics, swimming, basketball and badminton were some of the games he liked. And has even represented his school and college teams. When in SSLC, he had won the President's medal for scout activities.

He was a boy always wanting to do well and do better. He told his parents his aspiration was to get a job with a “better work-life balance”. Now, he says, he will be working on a platform that “all my friends envy”.

He began working as a design engineer in Australia. After five round of interview, he was appointed Flying Officer in the aerospace engineer department of RAAF. This is what Sudeep has to say; “It is a nice role where I have to make technical decisions on engineering changes such as modifications to equipment, system safety, approval of structural repairs etc. The best part of the job is working with cutting edge technology and continuing professional development over a wide spectrum”.

Bengaluru, Apr 4: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday asked Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar to be the government's spokesperson on the Novel Coronavirus crisis management effort, a move that is being seen as keeping too many cooks from spoiling the broth.

At a high-level meeting to review measures on COVID-19 containment, Mr Yediyurappa is said to have taken exception to his Cabinet colleagues making multiple, and often contradictory statements, leading to confusion.

''The CM has directed Mr Kumar to be the only one to brief the media on COVID-19,'' a source from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) confirmed.
