Uppinangady G P demands Rajyotsava award for Adamaka

Uppinangady, July 23: Uppinangadi Gram Panchayat has passed a resolution recommending Kadavinabagilu Adamaka's name for prestigious Rajyotsava award.

Speaking at an emergency meeting called by the Gram Panchayat on Friday, its President Ramachandra Maniyani said it was the responsibility of the government to recognise more than four decades of honest and selfless service of Adamaka.

He urged the local MLA's and MP to pressurise the government to honour Adamaka, whose has saved many lives by risking his own life in the past 43 years, with Rajyotsava award.

The G P also adopted a resolution urging the Dakshina Kannada District administration and the District In-Charge Minister to arrange boat facility at the flood affected areas of Uppinangadi.

“The Gram Panchayat used to request the district administration for an emergency boat during every flood precautionary meetings. But, the need had not been felt so far as Adamaka's boat was always there to help the people during floods,” Mr Maniyani said, adding that after the sale of Adamaka's boat a new problem has arisen.

In the meeting it was also decided to shift Nemmadi Kendra to Gram Panchayat office.

The Gram Panchayat also urged the district administration to arrange a Mobile outpost in Uppinangady.

Mandya, Feb 17: About 40 passengers were injured in a collision between a KSRTC bus and a tipper lorry near Srirangapatna in the district on Monday.

Police said that the incident occurred when the bus was stopped to allow passengers to alight when the tipper lorry rammed against the bus.

The victims have been admitted to the Taluk hospital and the severely injured have been shifted to a hospital in Mysuru.

Alappuzha, Dec 19: A Hindu couple, Anju and Sharath tied the knot at Cheruvally Muslim Jamaath Committee situated in Alappuzha district of South Kerala on Sunday.

The marriage took place as per Hindu rituals.

DH had earlier reported that the Jamaath Committee will conduct the marriage ceremony considering the request of the bride's mother, who hailed from a financially weak background.

Kerala Chief Minister Mr Pinarayi Vijayan shared the picture of the marriage on his social media post citing it as yet another instance of communal harmony in Kerala.

Mangaluru, Apr 6: Taking note of the communally hateful messages, news and pictures in the wake of coronavirus, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police (SP) Laxmi Prasad on Monday issued strict warning to people spreading such messages and news on local social media platforms.

The SP also confirmed that four cases under his jurisdiction have been registered for sending, forwarding messages with communal hate in the wake of coronavirus on Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

He added the police department will not take any such messages, news, and images lightly which can potentially hurt the sentiments of the people of any community. He also added that those found guilty will be prosecuted under strict law and their gadgets, mobiles will be seized by the department.
