Don't ask me anything, says Eshwarappa; Ravi lashes out at Guv

Mangalore, July 24: “Please…please… please don't ask me anything. This is not proper time to speak anything,” This was the response of Karnataka BJP President K S Eshwarappa to the questions posed before him over the crisis that gripped the state politics, following the leakage of Lokayukta report on illegal mining.

Mr Eshwarappa, who visited the city on Sunday along with party's State General Secretary and Chikmaglur MLA C T Ravi, held four-hour-long meeting with leaders of district unit of the PJP to assess party's organisational preparedness here.

When media persons surrounded him after the meeting, Mr Eshwarappa refused to answer any questions, saying that he did not come here for a press briefing. “Please don't force me. Next time when I come; I will invite you for a press briefing,” he said.

However Mr Ravi lashed out at Governor H R Bharadwaj and warned him against “any further attempt destabilise the democratically elected government.”

“He has already tried a lot to destabilise the BJP government in the state, but in vain. I hope that he has learnt lesson from his past failures,” Mr Ravi said.

Dkshina Kannada is the 21st district that Eshwarappa is touring in Karnataka as part of organisational efforts. He later headed to Udupi after paying a visit to Sanghanikethan, the local RSS headquarters here.

Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Deputy Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly N Yogish Bhat and DK District in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar were also present in the meeting.

Mumbai, Apr 15: A 35-year-old man, who worked as a priest in suburban Kandivali, allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday afternoon, hours after learning that lockdown to contain coronavirus has been extended.

The deceased was identified as Krishna Pujari, native of Udupi in Karnataka, who was attached to Durga Mata temple in Iraniwadi area of Sanjay Nagar.

Pujari, who lived with three other priests, was waiting for the lockdown to end as he wanted to go back to his hometown, a police official said.

When he learnt that the lockdown has been extended till May 3, he was terribly depressed and allegedly hanged himself in kitchen, the official added.

No suicide note has been found, he said.

Mangaluru, Apr 18: Food kits were distributed to as many as 100 needy Beary poets, writers and artistes’ on behalf of the Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy at a simple ceremony held at the Academy office here on Friday.
 
The service initiative during the Lockdown was taken up as per the guidance of Minister for Kannada and Culture C T Ravi.
 
Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary distributed the kits to the beneficiaries.

Mysuru, Feb 29: Tension prevailed at Tandavaput Industrial Area in Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru when a paper factory received a bomb threat call, which later turned out to be a hoax call.

The police said that the authorities of Rajshil Papers received a bomb threat call in the morning. After getting the information, the bomb detection squad rushed to the spot and inspected the factory premises and declared that it was a hoax call.

According to the police, an unidentified person called from his mobile, which is now switched off.
