Three fishermen go missing since July 23

Mangalore, July 26: Three fishermen, who had ventured into the sea for fishing, have been missing since July 23.

The missing are Francis Frank (23), Manohar Puthran (41), residents of Bengre and Vinci (40), resident of Deralakatte.

The trio had ventured into sea for fishing at around 1 pm on July 23 with a boat named “Jai Paduranga” owned by Laxman of Bengre. At around 6 pm, they called the owner over mobile phone had informed that boat engine was collapsed.

Lavina Frank, sister of Francis Frank said that her brother had called her to inform that they were in trouble in the mid-sea. Later Lavina informed this to the owner and concerned associations of fishermen.

Panambur Police, who had registered case, said that it would be difficult for the personnel of Coastal Security Force and Coast Guard to find the missing trio as they have been missing since three days.

However, the missing boat was found at Manjeshwara, it is learnt.

Udupi, Jan 14: The Udupi district police on Tuesday arrested two suspected terrorists at the Indrali railway station in Udupi.

The two, who had reportedly arrived from Kerala at around 6 ap.m., were standing at the Indrali railway station platform.

Suspicious of their behaviour, the police took them to custody and subjected them to interrogation.

According to reports the duo had involved in the murder of Tamil Nadu police Special Sub-Inspector Wilson.

However, top cop of the district has refused to comment regarding the arrest of the youths.

Chikkamagaluru, Jan 10: At least 15 RSS activists protesting against the 16th Chikkamagaluru District Kannada Sahitya Sammelan at Sringeri were detained, Police said here on Friday.

The Sangh Parivar activists gathered near the entrance of the hall where the event was being held and started sloganeering against the election of the leftist Kalkuli Vittal Hegde as the president of the literary gathering. The police then interfered and detained several protesters to bring situation under control.

Despite protests from the right wing organisations, the event went ahead and began as per the schedule.

Bengaluru, Jun 11: Within hours after claiming that it has decided to prohibit schools from schools from conducting online classes till Class 7, the Karnataka government has taken a U-turn and said that currently than ban is only till Class 5.

“Karnataka Govt has decided to stop all online classes for LKG, UKG & classes up to 5th std. To extend this up to 7th std is only a suggestion from few cabinet ministers as expressed in an informal discussion and NOT a decision,” tweeted Prime and Secondary Minister Suresh Kumar.

Law Minister J C Madhuswamy earlier today had stated that the decision to ban online classes till 7th standard was taken by the government.  "All of us were of the opinion that there were challenges faced by students studying in rural areas. Hence, we urged the government to extend the ban on online classes till 7 standard," he said
