Cops nab four thieves involved in 43 cases

Brahmavar, July 31: The Kota police have arrested four persons in connection with theft cases. The arrested are Ramesh Kumar of H D Kote in Mysore, Nithyananda Shetty of Marthahalli, Prasad of Kanakanagara, Gangadhar of Tarikere and seized values worth Rs 12.5 lakh. The police have tracked 43 cases by arresting four persons.

When the police waylaid a car, the four tried to escape from the spot, but in vain. The car had oxygen cylinder, gas cutter, iron rod and hand gloves. They were involved in theft cases in Brahmavar, Kota, Kundapur, Uppunda, Saligrama and Mundkinajeddu. They were also involved in theft cases in Jayanagara, Vivekananda extension, Vinoba Nagara, Bhadravathi of Shimoga, Hosapete in Bellary, Tarikere, Vedavathi Nagara, Tumkur pete, Saraswathipuram, Chamarajanagara Mohalla, Kuvempu Nagara, R T Nagara, Hebbal. The police have seized gold worth Rs 4,43,000, silver worth Rs 53,000 and Swift car worth Rs 7.25 lakh from the accused.

Ramesh also faces the charges of murder of his friend and was wanted in several cases in Bangalore. Nithyanand has been into theft cases for the last 25 years. Prasad and Gangadhar were facing the charges of house and vehicle theft cases.

Bengaluru, May 24: Karnataka has conducted 2.03 lakh tests across the 57 Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) COVID-19 testing labs till Sunday morning, said the state Minister of Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar.

He informed that the state has doubled the number of tests in just 16 days after clocking 1 lakh tests on May 8.

"After clocking 1 lakh tests on May 8, we have doubled the number of tests in just 16 days. As on this morning, we conducted 2.03 lakh tests across our 57 ICMR COVID-19 testing labs. I congratulate doctors and lab technicians on this achievement," Sudhakar tweeted.

As many as 1,743 people have been detected positive for coronavirus in the state, of which 597 have been cured and discharged and 41 have succumbed to the infection, as per the Union Health Ministry.

Belagavi, Jun 6: Suspecting that cow meat was being transported to Goa, unidentified persons set goods vehicle on fire near Karle village in Belagavi taluk last night.

The Incident came to the fore on Saturday morning.

Usually, vehicles carrying vegetables, milk and other essentials being transported to Goa and other towns plying via Karle village near Belagavi.

Sources said that for the past few days vehicles carrying meat were stopped and were handed over to police by section of activists suspecting it to be cow meat.

Persons who set the vehicle on fire were yet to be identified. Jurisdictional Belagavi Rural police have rushed to the spot. More details were awaited.

Bengaluru, Feb 6: Karnataka government has launched an aggressive awareness campaign against the novel coronavirus across the state with a special focus on its bordering areas in wake of the three confirmed cases of the deadly pathogen in neighbouring Kerala.

According to Health Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey, "All necessary information on the virus, its symptoms and precautions are being announced at public places like bus stops via radio from time to time."

“A video regarding the same is also being played in 500 cinema halls, advising masses to take precautions," he said.
