Vivek Express to arrive M'lore on Friday

Mangalore, August 2: The Mangaloreans will have a glance to know about the life and messages of Swami Vivekananda. A special train with photo exhibition on the life of Swami Vivekananda “Vivek Express” to commemorate his 150th birth centenary will be stationed at Mangalore Central Railway station for three days from August 5.

The train with two air conditioned coaches will exhibit pictures and write-ups on the life and message of Swami Vivekananda, said Ramakrishna Mutt Head Jitakamanandaji in a press meet here.

“This mobile museum will remain the city till August 7th and the exhibition will be open for students studying in 6th standard or above and the public,” he said.

Vivek Express will contain rare pictures depicting the life of Swami Vivekananda, including the famous photograph of him making a speech at Chicago.

He said that the Mutt from Mangalore will also host a picture exhibition depicting the messages of Swami Vivekananda near the mobile museum.

Block education officer has also sent a notification to all schools regarding the exhibition. Ramakrishna Mutt has also arranged for buses for students from government schools. Headmasters of schools who require bus for transport can contact Ramakrishna Math through 0824 2414412.

Mangaluru, Jul 2:  A seven-day old baby boy was tested positive for Covid-19, Health Department officials said on Thursday.

The infant is currently undergoing treatment at a designated Covid Hospital here. The baby was born at a private hospital in the city last week. 

According to the officials, it was not known as to how the newborn contracted the infection.

Mysuru, Mar 6: A BJP worker was stabbed to death by unidentified persons at his apartment in Mysore in the early hours of Friday, police said.

Anand in his early thirties, was reportedly attacked with a broken beer bottle shortly after he returned home following his late night birthday party, police added.

Following information from neighbours in the apartment, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

"The murder took place between 3 am and 4 am. We are investigating who was with him at the time and what was the motive behind the killing," Mysuru police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta told reporters.

Police said further investigations are on to ascertain the motive and people behind the killing.

Udupi, May 31: As many as 10 people have been tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district today. 

The district has registered a total of 187 positive cases so far. Majority of the positive cases in Udupi district have inter-state travel history to Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, 14 people including three children who recovered from COVID -19 discharged from Government Hospital in Kundapura, in Udupi district.

Kundapura AC Raju, DHO Dr Sudhirchandra Sooda, taluk medical officer Dr Nagabhushan Udupa handed over a rose to all the discharged. With this, a total of 64 persons have been recovered and discharged in the district.
