KSRTC observes 50th foundation day

Mangalore, August 1: The Mangalore Depot of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) observed its 50th foundation Day at its premises on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, M R Vasudev, Mangalore Airport Director appreciated the service of KSRTC Volvo to the Airport, which according to him, would help the Airport extensively.

He said patience, hard work and determination lead the individual or company to the success and urged not to suspend some of the KSRTC bus services just because they do not fetch the profits.

Mr Vasudev also emphasized the importance of mutual understanding between KSRTC staff and passengers and immediate response to the problems of passengers.

Mallikarjuna, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), said that satellite bus terminus should be opened for private as well as government bus service so that the traffic congestion will also be reduced within the city.

C Yeshwanth Kumar, the in-charge Divisional Controller, welcomed the gathering while KSRTC staff Diwakar presented annual report of KSRTC.

On the occasion, senior staff of the KSRTC were felicitated for their service.

Bengaluru, Apr 19: As many as 25 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the State till now, said Karnataka's Health Department.

"25 new COVID-19 cases reported in the State from 5 pm Friday to 5 pm on Saturday. The total number of positive cases in the State is 384 including 14 deaths and 104 discharges," added the Health Department.

The Health Department has appealed to the doctors, who are willing to volunteer in the fight against coronavirus, to reach out to the government.

A total of 14,378 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the country so far, with 480 deaths being reported due to the virus.

Bengaluru, Jan 5: Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries Jagadish Shettar warned of strict action against officers who demand bribe from farmers while acquiring land.

Mr Shettar, who paid a surprise visit to defense, aerospace hi-tech industry layout in Haraluru, Devanahalli in Bengaluru Rural district, warned the officials who demand a bribe for sanctioning compensation funds.

He said, 'Lands have been acquired from farmers for the development of the industrial area. It's the duty of state government to provide compensation to these farmers. Complaints must be registered against officials who demand a bribe for functioning compensation funds.'

Mangalore, Feb 17: The Popular Front of India (PFI) on Monday took out a march in Mangalore's Deralakatte without seeking permission, police said.

"They were only given permission for a programme but they took out a march from Madaninagar to Deralakatte," said ACP Kodanada Rama.
