Jamiyyatul Falah city unit hosts Iftar get-together

Mangalore, August 13: Jamiyyatul Falah Mangalore Corporation Unit held its annual Iftar Get-together at the CDC Hall at its headquarters here in Kankanady on Friday.

Maulana Saalim Khaleefa Nadwi, principal, Iqra Arabic School, was the chief guest. In his address, Maulana Nadwi stressed on the need to inculcate the spirit of accountability and taqwa during Ramadan and follow it in our day-to-day life.

“During Ramadan we stay away from food and water for nearly 14 hours to please Allah. We do not gulp a sip of water nor eat a bite of food during the fasting hours adhering to the divine command. But we should also realize that the divine command is not limited to Ramadan alone. We should follow the dos and don'ts prescribed by Allah in our daily life,” he said.

Mangalore MLA, U.T. Khader, the former president of Jamiyyatul Falah district unit P.B. Abdur Razak, Secretary of the district unit Shahul Hameed and Advocate/notary Abdul Azeez were present on the dais.

Corporation Unit president Saduddin M. Salih welcomed the gathering. Secretary Nazeer Ahmed proposed a vote of thanks. Joint Secretary Haneef compered the programme.

Mangaluru, Jan 3: A young entrepreneur reportedly jumped off the Netravati bridge near Thokkottu on the outskirts of the city today morning.

The youth who allegedly committed suicide has been Navesh Kottari, 30, a resident of Ullalbail. He was the proprietor of N J Shamiyana.

The incident took place at around 6:30 a.m. Police and fire brigade rushed to the spot after sometime and launched search operation for the body in the river Netravati.

The body was retrieved in the afternoon.

Bengaluru, Mar 31: Ten persons who were under home quarantine in Bengaluru and had escaped to their native places, were arrested on Monday.
A case has been registered against them at Gurmitkal Police Station, said BH Anil Kumar, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) Commissioner.

Seven new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Karnataka between Saturday 5 pm and Sunday 2 pm.

The total number of positive cases in the state stands at 83, out of which five have been cured and three have lost their lives, according to the Karnataka Health Department.

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 7: Making a scathing attack on the Central government, Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac on Friday said the BJP-led NDA government was "strangulating" the southern state by denying funds.

Presenting the 2020-21 budget of the Pinarayi Vijayan led-LDF government, he alleged the centre has been "helping" corporates rather that the common man.

"The Centre has been strangulating Kerala by denying funds for the state and has been moving on a self-destructive path by corporate-friendly policies and privatisation. The GST implementation has not been beneficial for the state," he said.

"The government proposes 2.5 lakh water connections in the upcoming financial year. We will also construct one lakh houses under Life Mission," the finance minister said.

The budget has allocated Rs 90 crore for Pravasi Welfare Fund and the government proposes power projects with a capacity of 500 MW.

"The government proposes Kochi development plan with a fund of Rs 6,000 crore. The city will get an unified travel card and Metro project will be extended," Issac said.

The state government has increased all welfare pension funds by Rs 100, allotted Rs 40 crore to paddy farmers and Rs 10 crore for startups in the state.

The local self-governments have been allotted Rs five crore for waste management, Rs 20 crore has been set apart for 1,000 food stalls under hunger-free Kerala, where meals will be made available at Rs 25.
