12 year old boy drowns in pond

Bantwal, August 15: Muhammad Irfan, a 12-year-old boy met watery grave on Sunday in a pond at Babukatte in Kasba Village, Vitla.


A class V student, Irfan is the son of A Abdul Khader and Maimoona couple, residing at Okkettoor, near here.

Irfan had been living at his relative's house at Babukatte. He had gone for swimming in the pond belonging to neighbor Kanthappa Hegde. Unfortunately he drowned in the pond. His body was recovered by the experts swimmers.

Postmortem was conducted at Vitla Community Hospital and a case of unnatural death has been registered at Vitla Police station.

Hailing from a poor family background, Abdul Khader is a labourer in a factory at BC Road.

Bengaluru, Mar 10: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to the Kempegowda International Airport and checked all measures taken by authorities and doctors to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Till date, 45 people have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus infection across India.

A resident of Bengaluru was tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.

Bengaluru, Mar 15: The Karnataka government has intensified screening all international passengers at airports by classifying them into three risk categories.

Passengers, who are symptomatic on arrival fall under risk category 1, those aged above 60 and have Symptoms fall under category 2. Those who fall in both these categories are being quarantined at designated facilities for 14 days from arrival.

Asymptomatic passengers arriving from any of the COVID-19 affected countries will fall under category 3 and will be advised to be under strict home quarantine for 14 days, Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said here on Sunday.

Bengaluru, Mar 31: The total number of positive cases of coronavirus reached 101 in Karnataka on Tuesday after 13 more positive cases were reported in the state from March 30 5 pm to 2 pm today.

The total number of 101 includes three deaths and 8 discharged/cured cases, Karnataka Health Department stated.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has risen to 1,397 after 146 new patients were reported in the last 24-hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday.

Of this little less than 1,400 cases, there are 1,238 active while 124 cured. The total figure also includes 35 fatalities.
