Miscreants vandalise government school

Mangalore, August 23: Unidentified miscreants vandalised a Government School at Kadir-Mallikatta here damaging property worth several thousands of rupees.

The vandalisers gained entry into Netaji Subhashchandra Bose Government Composite School in the wee hours of Tuesday and ransacked furniture besides damaging roof and water pipes.

The incident came to light at around 7:00 am. The students who went to School as usually on Tuesday forced to sit outside the as everything inside the classrooms were scattered.

Police said that the miscreants might have targeted the school after 2:30 a.m., as a number of people and police were present in the surroundings till late night due to an orchestra programme.

It can be recalled that the same school was targeted by miscreants last week.

A case has been registered at Kadri police station.

Mangaluru, June 29: An elderly man, who was under quarantine at a lodge was inhumanly dragged on the floor and abandoned on the roadside by his own son. 

The shocking incident occurred in broad daylight at Deralakatte on the outskirts of the city today. 

The father and son are said to be natives of Uppala in Kasaragod district. The duo stayed in a hotel room at Deralakatte after returning from Mumbai a few days ago. 

Today the son dragged his father mercilessly on the floor and escaped after abandoning him on the road side. A CCTV camera has captured the incident. 

The jurisdictional Konaje police are trying trace the miscreant.

Bengaluru, Jul 1: Faced with increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the State Capital, Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Justice A S Okha has decided the Court to function online.

Registrar General Rajendra Badamikar, in the notice issued here on Wednesday, based on order of the Chief Justice, stated that the emergency cases will be conducted through video conference until the next order.

The order also specifies that only the principal seat (Bengaluru) will be conducting proceedings online. High Court benches at Dharwad and Kalaburagi will continue to function as usual.

Manjeshwar, Jul 8: Manjeshwar police arrested a man with 10 Kg of Ganja while fleeing away from a checkpoint at Battippadavu last night.

The police said on Wednesday that since the vehicle did not stop they had to chase it and after going some distance the driver lost control over the steering and it met with an accident.

The police immediately arrested the accused and the ganja was found concealed in a gunny bag.
