SDM Law College holds Iftar get-together

Mangalore, August 28: Students of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Law College organized a Iftar-Get-Together at Shaadi Mahal ,Bolar recently.

The programme began with Qirath by Jaleel followed by a Nasheed by Hashim. The Convener Sameer Kashimjee welcomed the gathering.

The Chief Guest for the function was Muhammad Kunhi, Chief Manager, Shanthi Prakashana, Mangalore.

The programme was Presided by Dr B K Ravindra , Principal , SDM Law College ,Mangalore.

Other dignitaries were advocates Purushottam Poojary and Dinesh Hegde. SDM Staff and Students were present in large number.

Bengaluru, Feb 13: Veteran freedom fighter and advisor to the Karnataka Government in Education Reforms HS Doreswamy on Thursday has recommended Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to make it mandatory for MLA and MLCs to adopt at least three govt Schools in their respective constituencies.

Mr Doreswamy appealed to the Chief Minister to implement the suggestion in the State budget for 2020-21 to be presented by him on March 5.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Doreswamy, on the higher education sector, stressed the need to appoint highly qualified candidates for Vice Chancellor posts. There is no dearth of talent and eligibility in the State and authorities concerned must ensure that the right person is appointed by taking extreme care".

Mangaluru, Feb 13: The Customs Officers of Airport Team-II at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) on Thursday intercepted a passenger who attempted to smuggle gold worth Rs 9.39 lakhs.

The team led by Rajesh Poojary nabbed the passenger who attempted to smuggle 233.18 grams of gold strips concealed inside a rechargeable emergency light and solar sensor wall light.

The officials said a passenger named Mohammed Mahir Patla (24) from Kasaragod, who arrived from Dubai yesterday evening by Air India flight number IX384 attempted to smuggle the gold.

Mangaluru, Jul 6: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has rubbished the social media rumours about lockdown in the district from July 8 to 25.

The Viral Rumour

A false message which is going viral on social media including WhatsApp claims that several organisations in Dakshina Kannada in a meeting have unanimously decided observe lockdown from July 8 to July 25. During this period essential services will be available only till 1 p.m.

DC’s clarification

“Don’t believe in such false rumours. Currently the lockdown is from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Every Sunday there will be total lockdown till August 2. People should continue to maintain social distance and follow all the guidelines to prevent the spread of covid-19,” said the deputy commissioner.
