Udupi, September 1: The Department of Public Instruction has released a list of winners of the District-level Best Teacher Award for 2011 here on Tuesday.

Those who have been chosen for the award in the primary school section from the five educational zones are M. Annappa Sherugar from M.S. Government Higher Primary, Uppunda (Byndoor zone); Anantha Kharvi, Konchady Radha Shenoy from Government Higher Primary School, Gangolli (Kundapur zone); Srikant Aithal from Sri Shambhavi Vidyadayini Aided-Higher Primary School, Giliyaru-Kota (Brahmavar zone); Sharavati U.R. from S.V.C.S. Aided-Higher Primary School, Yellur (Udupi zone); and Shakuntala from Government Model Higher Primary School, Hebri (Karkala zone).

Those chosen for the award in the high school category are H. Rajeev Shetty from Government High School, Vandse (Byndoor zone); Chandramohan Shetty from Government High School, Vakvady, (Kundapur zone); Vijay Kumar Shetty from Sri Durgaparmeshwari High School, Mandarti (Brahmavar zone); K. Shekhar Poojary, Nehru High School, Alevoor (Udupi zone); and Sumana B. from Government Pre-University College, Bajagoli (Karkala zone).

Murali Kadekar, Assistant Teacher at Nittur High School, Udupi, has been chosen for the Special Achievement Award.

Bengaluru, Jan 11: India’s second-biggest IT company, Infosys Ltd, said it found no evidence of financial misconduct by its executives following a investigation into whistleblower complaints.

Bengaluru-headquartered Infosys, which earlier on Friday raised its revenue forecasts due to upbeat demand from Western clients, said an audit committee report exonerated Chief Executive Officer Salil Parekh and Chief Financial Officer Nilanjan Roy of all allegations, including accusations that the duo prevented employees from presenting data on large deals.

“I’m very happy that CEO Salil Parekh and CFO Nilanjan Roy have emerged from this stronger,” Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani told reporters. “The last two years since Salil has been here the company has changed dramatically for the better.”

Parekh took over as Infosys CEO in January 2018, after his predecessor Vishal Sikka quit following a public row with the company’s founder executives amid whistleblower allegations of wrongdoing.

The company earlier said it expected revenue to grow between 10 per cent and 10.5 per cent on a constant currency basis in the year ending March 2020, compared with its previous forecast of between 9 per cent and 10 per cent.

“We continue to see momentum in the market and we have an extremely robust pipeline driven by segment leaders,” CEO Parekh told a news conference.

“With the strength of large deal wins and digital momentum, we were able to clearly see that we have support to raise our guidance.”

Bengaluru,  Aug 4: Karnataka has seen a substantial increase in COVID-19 recovery rate, which was 5.67 per cent in the last week, state Medical Education Minister Dr. K Sudhakar said.

"Every day there is an increase in recovery rate which is higher by 9.17 per cent in Bengaluru city. The overall recovery rate of the state by Sunday evening was 42.81 per cent and it is 35.14 per cent in Bengaluru," the Minister wrote in a tweet.

Minister Sudhakar also directed officials to resolve the issue raised by a woman who had written to him about her struggle to take possession of the body of her father in St. Johns hospital, Madivala.

The hospital she claimed was charging money to hand over the body.

"It is inhuman on part of the hospital to refuse handover of the body. I came to know about this incident in the media and responded immediately to help out the woman," Dr. Sudhakar wrote in his tweet.

Karnataka has so far reported 74,598 active COVID-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Bengaluru, Jul 22: A total of 4,764 new COVID-19 cases and 55 deaths were reported in Karnataka in the last 24 hours.

Out of the new cases, 2,050 cases were reported in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The total number of active cases stands at 47,069, said the state Health Department.

Death toll rises to 1,519 in the state.
