Special children celebrate joy of festivals

Mangalore, September 4: City based Hidaya Foundation organised 'Onam' and 'Eid-ul-Fitr' celebrations at Sanidhya Special School, Shaktinagar, near here on Saturday.

Mangalore MLA UT Khader, who was chief guest of the occasion, appreciating the effort of organisers said that we should never forget our responsibility towards the disabled children.

Mangala Nursing Home managing director Dr Ganapati, Prestige International School teacher Raihana Hakim, Sanidhya Special School president Mahabala Marla, and Hidaya Foundation president Kasim Ahmed H K were also present.

Cultural programmes by the special students were also held highlighting the significance of Onam on the occasion.

Karnataka CM inaugurates mobile COVID-19 testing booth

Bengaluru, Apr 16: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday inaugurated a mobile Covid-19 testing booth in Bengaluru.

These mobile booths will be used in all wards of Bengaluru to collect samples of those suspected to be infected.

According to information available on the website of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as of Thursday, 4:00 PM, 279 coronavirus cases have been reported from the state, with 80 cured/discharged/migrated and 12 deaths.

India's coronavirus tally is at 12,380 cases, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

Section 144 in Mangaluru from 8pm on Aug 4 to 6am on Aug 6

Mangaluru, Aug 3: As part of precautionary measures in the region during Bhoomi Pujan in Ayodhya, prohibitory orders under Section 144 will be imposed under the limits of Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate.

The Section 144 will be in force from 8 p.m. on Tuesday (August 4) to 6 a.m. on Thursday (August 6)

Sources said that the city police commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash has taken this step following reports about possibility of protests in Mangaluru during Bhoomi Pujan.

The top cop has warned of stringent action against those who violate the prohibitory orders.

Mangaluru: Over 1500 students, teacehrs to take part in ABVP state conference

Mangaluru, Feb 6: Over 1500 students and teachers are expected to take part in a three-day State-level conference of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) starting on Friday here.

Reception Committee chairman K.C. Nayak and secretary Shantharama Shetty told reporters here today that Deputy Chief Minister C.N. Ashwath Narayana would inaugurate the conference at the Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall.

The former ABVP national president and former Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya would preside over the programme that would be attended by Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor P.S. Yadapadithaya, ABVP national organising secretary Ashish Chauhan and others.
