Forest guard chops-off own private part

Karwar, September 6: A 50-year old mentally challenged forest guard in Nujanahenjalu forest area of Bhatkal taluk on Tuesday chopped off his own private part.

Kumta based Pramod Shankar Patgar, who was on leave for more than one month due to psychological imbalance, straightly went to the forest in the morning and took this bizarre step of self-neutralization.

When the local farmers rushed to help the aged forester who was crying out in pain, they realized what had happened. They found a knife lying next to him.

The forest and police officials rushed to the spot and made necessary arrangements to shift the wounded man to a private hospital in Manipal.

They also recovered the chopped off private part of the forest guard and sent it to the hospital along with him.

Mangaluru, Jun 9: Two days after he went missing under mysterious circumstances, a 33-year-old man was today found dead on the banks of Netravati river at Ullal Hoige on the outskirts of the city.

The deceased has been identified as Chethan Acharya. A missing case was registered on Tuesday morning at Ullal police station.

It is suspected that Chetan might have committed suicide due to depression. 

The missing case was later converted into the case of unnatural death. Investigations are on.

Bengaluru, Jul 22: Yellow alert has been issued for Karnataka's Shivamogga, Chikmagalur, Hassan, and Kodagu for July 23 and 24.

Some areas of Bengaluru may receive light rainfall today, said CS Patil, Director, IMD Centre, Bengaluru.

He added that coastal areas of the state are very likely to experience rainfall from on July 23 and July 24, and that rainfall may increase July 24 onwards. Widespread rainfall is predicted for July 24th, 25th, and 26th.

Kalaburagi, Mar 16: A family member of the 76-year-old man from Kalaburgai who died of COVID-19 on March 10 has been tested positive for the virus.

Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner B Sharat said, "One member of the family of the 76-year-old man from Kalaburgai, who died due to coronavirus has tested positive for the virus."

The disease which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year has so far spread to more than 100 countries, infecting over 1,30,000 people.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
