Kadri Nritya Vidyalaya celebrates Platinum jubilee

September 10, 2011

Mangalore, September 10: The three-day Platinum jubilee celebrations of the Kadri Nritya Vidyalaya began on a grand note on Friday. The three-hour programme showcased the rich tradition of Carnatic music and Bharatnatya.

V P Dhananjayan and his troupe from Chennai gave a fitting finale to the day's programme.

The celebrations began with the soulful renditions of songs by the students of the vidyalaya. The students began with the song, “Nee Nanna Geluvagi Baa”, in Hamsadhwani Raga. This was followed by rendition of the patriotic song, “Hacchevu Kannadada Deepa”, in Raga Desh. The senior students delightfully sang the Thaygaraja Keertana “Saamaja Varagama” in Raga Hindola.

The dance recital by U P Sharan and his brother U.P. Charan, grandsons of U.S. Krishna Rao, founder of Vidyalaya; Sharan, BE student, and Charan, a student of St. Aloysius College, was attractive. They presented a sequence from the Bhagawad Gita. Sharan played the role of Arjuna, while his younger brother Charan played Lord Krishna.

The hallmark of the day's event was the dance performance by 72-year-old V.P. Dhanajayan and his group from Chennai. He mesmerised the audience with the fine portrayal of “Dushyanta-Kaikaiyi” episode from the Ramayana. “We are honoured to perform on this stage,” Mr. Dhanajanyan said.

Shivamogga, Jun 13: Senior BJP leader and Karnataka Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, K S Eshwarappa on Saturday opined that during the selection of candidates to the legislative council, the party needs to take into consideration those who helped the party in formation of government in the State.

Speaking to media persons on the sideline of a programme here, he said the party high command would give another surprise while issuing tickets during the MLC election.

Mr Eshwrappa said that party high command will take a call on selecting candidates, but priority should be given to the leader who won on Congress and Janata Dal and then jumped to BJP which helped to form govt under the leadership of B S Yediyurappa.

Mysuru, May 15: The Temple Town of Nanjangud was till now treated as one unit or a Cluster Containment Zone and was put under complete lock-down as per the containment protocol listed under COVID-19 regulations and Disaster Management Act, 2005.

However on Friday, some of the restrictions have been lifted by Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar who permitted certain activities as no fresh positive cases were reported from the cluster area. The Cluster Containment Zone was declared on March 29 following one employee of Nanjangud-based Jubilant Generics tested positive for the killer Coronavirus. As there were chances of the positive person spreading the disease to other employees of the factory, the cluster rules were enforced. Moreover, there were over 1,000 employees in the Pharma Company and a majority of them lived in and around Nanjangud.

The declaration of Cluster Containment Zone with complete lock-down and quarantining of all the Pharma Company employees proved a success to the District Administration as whoever tested positive – over 73 were later tested positive — had already been quarantined and the dangerous community spread phase was successfully prevented. To a major extent, the Corona virus curve has been flattened. As such, restrictions have been relaxed a bit on Friday.
