National level IT & Life Science Exhibition at AIMIT on Sep 15, 16

Mangalore, September 14: The MCA, Master of Science (software Technology), M.Sc.(Bioinformatics) and PGDCA students of AIMIT, St. Aloysius college (Autonomous) will be jointly organising a national level Inter-collegiate IT and Life Sciences Exhibition, INFOVISION-2001 on September 15 and 16, according to a press release issued here.

The programme is part of the activity of the Computer Society of India (CSI) Chapter of AIMIT

Students from all over, under-graduate and post-graduate, will be participating in the exhibition and displaying their innovative models to the public. During the event the spot light will be on the entire student community hailing from various colleges in India with a view to encourage innovative models.

The models will be displayed under the following categories: IT Models and Life Science Models. The aim of the event is to get young minds from all over to participate in a competition of showcasing their ideas through models. In the IT segment, students will be exhibiting their software and hardware models. Students can showcase applications developed for various devices with live demos. In the Life Sciences segment, students will exhibit software related to life sciences with either working, non-working models or charts.

The theme for Infovision this year is INFINITY, Ideas Unlimited. The purpose of choosing this theme is to break the barriers of ones imagination to lead you to better oneself and the world we live in.

The Exhibition is open between 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. to all College and School students to come and see the models.

Prof. Santhosh Rebello (Dean, IT & Bioinformatics dept) and the Faculty Coordinators Mr.S.Ruban and Mrs.Deborah Vijay along with students are organising this mega event, stated the release.

3 more legislators in Karnataka test Covid-19 positive

Bengaluru, Jul 19: Three legislators of the opposition Congress in Karnataka, including 2 MLAs and 1 MLC tested positive for coronavirus and are under treatment, a party official said on Saturday.

"Our Bailhongal MLA Mahantesh Koujalgi in Belagavi district and Humnabad MLA Rajashekhar Patil and his MLC brother Chandrashekhar Patil in Bidar district tested positive for the infection and are under treatment at designated hospitals," party spokesman Ravi Gowda told media persons in Bangaluru.

Koujalgi's swab sample was taken on Friday after he showed signs of illness and its result turned positive earlier in the day.

"As Koujalgi attended a review meeting at Bailhongal, about 20 officials who participated in the meeting have been home quarantined," said Gowda.

Koujalgi is the second lawmaker in the state's northwest region to test positive after BJP's Belagavi North assembly segment MLA Anik Benake tested positive for the virus on July 15.

"Patil brothers were in self quarantine after meeting BJP's Bidar Lok Sabha member Bhagwanth Khuba, who tested positive on Wednesday. Their tests also showed they were infected with the virus," Gowda said.

Congress MLC Sandesh Nagaraj, who tested positive on Friday, is under treatment at a private hospital in Mysuru.

Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai is in institutional quarantine in Bengaluru after he tested positive for the infection.

Mangaluru | Frustrated husband kills wife after quarrel; kids shell-shocked

Mangaluru, Jul 3: A middle aged man killed his wife by pushing her down a stone quarry at Karambaru near Kavoor on the outskirts of the city today.

The victim has been identified as Shanta, aged around 35 years. The accused is her husband Ganesh, aged round 45 years.

The incident took place on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The exact reason for the crime is yet to be known. It is learnt that the husband and wife had quarreled before the murder.

A native of Hassan, Ganesh was working as a tipper driver. Shanta hailed from Salethadka in Kasargod. They couple have a son and a daughter. The family stays in a rented house at Kavoor.

Raghavendra Kini is the new chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority

Udupi, June 26: BJP leader K Raghavendra Kini has been appointed as the new Chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) by Government of Karnataka.

A well-known businessman, Raghavendra Kini is also serving as the president of Kunjibettu Consumers’ Multipurpose Co-operative Union.

Along with him, the State Government has appointed Suma Naika, Praveen Kumar Shetty and Kishor Kumar as members of the Authority.
