PUC students go missing in Udupi

Udupi, September 28: Two students of city based Christian PU College have been missing since September 26.

The missing students have been identified as Arfan (17) son of Shabbeer, a resident of Kemmannu Hoode, and Amanullah Haqq (17) son of Akbar Ali from Kalyanpur Santhekatte.

Both were close friends and bench-mates in second PUC.

According to a complaint registered at Udupi Police station, the duo had left for college together on Monday morning. However they neither reached college, nor returned home.

Details of missing students are as follows:

Arfan: 5'6'' tall, wheatish complexion, speaks Urdu, Kannada, Tulu and English. Amanullah Haqq: 5'6" tall, fair complexion, speaks Urdu, Kannada, Tulu and English

Anyone came to know the whereabouts of the missing students are requested to contact the Udupi city police station on 0820 2520444.

Bengaluru, Jun 12: All the four candidates, including former prime minister H D Deve Gowda (JDS), and senior Congress leader Mallikarjna Kharge, on Friday were declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.

Karnataka Assembly Secretary sources here said that all the four candidates, who were in the fray for as many berths, were elected after the last date of withdrawal of candidature ended on Friday.

Mangaluru, July 13: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Monday said that all COVID-19 patients in the district will be treated for free in the hospitals of all medical colleges in the district.

Speaking to newsmen after visiting the COVID-19 treatment facility at KMC Hospital here, Poojary stated that all COVID-19 patients including BPL families, APL families, migrant workers and those without a ration card, will be treated free of charge in the district’s medical colleges. Patients can show their Aadhaar card at the hospital and get free treatment.

Provision of free treatment for COVID-19 patients at Wenlock hospital will be continued. In Dakshina Kannada district, the number of people recovering from the virus and being discharged hospitals is high. There is no need for the people of the district to panic. The government is committed to the health of the people, Poojary said.

Mangaluru, Jan 31: Karnataka Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar on Friday announced to sanction 160 acres of land at Kenjar in the Taluk for setting up the Indian Coast Guard Academy.

The land was allotted from the land bank of Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).

Mr Bhaskar made the announcement at the commissioning of the high-speed interceptor boat C-448 of the Indian Coast Guard at New Mangalore recently.
