Baraguru Ramachandrappa to inaugurate Alva's 'Nudisiri'

Moodbidri, September 29: The eighth edition of 'Alva's Nudisiri', a Kannada cultural and literary fest organised by Alva's Education Foundation, which is scheduled from November 11 to November 13, will be inaugurated by well-known writer Baraguru Ramachandrappa.

This year's Nudisiri convention will be conducted with central theme of 'Kannada Mannassu-Sangarsha Matthu Samarasya', said Alva's Education Foundation President Dr. M. Mohan Alva.

It can be recalled that Mr Ramachandrappa had presided over the first Nudisiri convention.

He was born in Baraguru of Tumkur district. He has worked as a lecturer in Kannada Department of Bangalore University. For two years he was president of Kannada Sahitya Academy.

'Suntaragali' has bagged Karnataka Rajya Sahitya Academy award. 'Ondu Urina Kathegalu', 'Kannadabimana', 'Kappu Nelada Kempukayi', 'Marakutika', 'Rajakarani', 'Sutra', 'Kantessa Kavya' are listed amongst his best literary works.

Mangaluru, Mar 29: The second day of a total clampdown by Dakshin Kannada district had no impact as panic-stricken people rushed to buy essential commodities in markets in the City on Sunday without caring for Social distance to be maintained.

Since the crowd swell within minutes the police were forced to order the shops forcibly as otherwise, it might have led to spread of dreaded killer Coronavirus COVID-19.

The rise in Covid-19 cases in Dakshina Kannada and the neighbouring Kasargod district had forced the district administration to declare on total bandh on Saturday and Sunday but in vain.

Mangaluru, Apr 12: A 70-year-old woman who tested positive for COVID-19 got discharged from a hospital here on Sunday after she recovered from the novel coronavirus, said Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Sindu B Rupesh.

Seven other patients have also recovered and discharged in Dakshina Kannada till date. Total number of active cases in the district has decreased to 5 now.

As many as 232 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Karnataka till date.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India on Sunday climbed to 8447, including 764 cured and discharged, 1 migrated and 273 deaths, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Mangaluru, Jun 15: The case of two elderly Dubai returnees who are being treated for Covid-19 at the Wenlock Covid-19 Hospital has left doctors perplexed.

The two aged 76 and 81 men had arrived from Dubai on May 18 and 12 respectively and are at the hospital since one month. 

To everyone's surprise, six of their tests have come out positive though they have not shown any symptoms of SARS-CoV-2.
