DC orders magisterial probe into duo's death

Mangalore September 29: Deputy Commissioner Dr N S Channappa Gowda has appointed sub divisional Magistrate, Puttur sub division, to hold magisterial enquiry into the death of Mohammed Asif and Mohammed Mustafa of Kootelu.

The duo had found dead under mysterious circumstances in September 2009.

According to a press release, the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi, has directed to conduct magisterial enquiry into the death of the duo.

The enquiry officer will have to conduct a detailed inquiry into the death and submit a report to the district magistrate within four week. The enquiry officer will have to find out whether the death was due to police action and whether the allegations levelled by the complainant are justifiable or not.

It may be recalled that the duo transporting cattle, in a bid to avoid a group of people who were reportedly chasing, met their end in a watery grave on September 10, 2009.

Bengaluru, Feb 16: The Central Crime Branch has recovered blank firearms from Saddaguntepalya Police Station limits.

As of now, two persons have been arrested in this regard. They have been identified as Mohd Junaid and Mohd Tabrez. The officials have recovered 28 blank firearms and 76 blank bullets.

"The two accused -- without having any license -- were in possession of these huge number of weapons," Sandeep Patil, Joint CP, Crime, told media.

As per the preliminary investigation, there has been no record of such cases in Bengaluru. "But we are verifying if other states have any (such) case," added the Joint CP

According to investigations, it was noted that the weapons were purchased from Mumbai at an estimated cost of Rs 1 lakh per weapon.

Further investigation is currently underway.

Bengaluru, Jul 27: Former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday took strong exception to the BJP's celebration over completing one year in office and alleged that people are suffering due to anti-people policies of the state government.

In a tweet on Monday, he said that since the last six months pension due to physically challenged, old age and Widow pensions were not paid. He urged the Government Issue emerge order to release pension amounts immediately. It was shameful on the part of the Government to keep the pension amount being kept pending.

This government has no eyes and ears and claiming only challenging years and transparent government, what examples required for them, he questioned.

Kalaburagi, Feb 22: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Waris Pathan was booked for his alleged remark against the Hindu community in his speech during an anti-CAA rally held here recently, police sources said on Saturday.

According to police sources, the FIR was registered against the AIMIM leader, following a complaint lodged by a woman advocate on Friday evening.

Taking strongly about the incident, the Karnataka Home minister Basavaraj Bommai had directed the Kalaburagi city police commissioner to submit a report on the incident.

It may be recalled that the AIMIM leader, in his speech at a rally held in the city on February 15 had said that if all the 15 crore minority populations in the country stand united they could take on 100 crore Hindu population.
