JIH prez delivers lecture on Islamic inheritance right

Mangalore, October 17: The city unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) on Sunday organised a special lecture on 'Islamic Family and Inheritance Right' at RL Convention Hall here.

Delivering the lecture in Urdu Maulana Sayyid Jalauddeen Umri, all India president of JIH, said that Islamic law of inheritance is based on justice.

K M Ashraf, State Secretary of the organisation translated the lecture into Kannada. Following which an interaction session was held and Mr Umri answered the questions of audience.

Abdullah Javed, State Predient of JIH delivered introductory remarks. Ishaq Puttur, Vice president, Mangalore city unit of JIH, welcomed the gathering. Imthiyaz Perla recited the verses of Qur'an. Rahmathullah M compered the programme and proposed vote of thanks. Rafeeq Ahmed, national joint secretary of JIH was present.

New Delhi, Feb 20: The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the non-bailable warrants issued against the state Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) by the Karnataka High Court.

A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde stayed the non-bailable warrants while hearing a plea filed by the Karnataka government.

Earlier today, the apex court had agreed to hear the matter today itself after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta mentioned the matter before it.

Tushar Mehta had pointed that Home Secretary has been asked by the High Court to execute the non-bailable warrants and said that this order is "unusual".

Karnataka High Court had earlier issued non-bailable warrants against the top cops in a case.

Kalaburagi, Feb 24: Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Monday alleged that dissatisfaction and unhappiness are rising among the local Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs and the party might soon witness large scale defection.

Addressing the media, Mr. Siddaramaiah said many of the BJP MLAs have openly expressed their disappointment and unhappiness with the BJPs high command and also with Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa's attitude towards them and they have said that they want to join the Congress at the earliest.

Bengaluru, June 19: The throat swabs of a Bengaluru-based Kannada journalist, who passed away on June 18, were tested positive for the covid-19, officials said.

Gauripura Chandru (54), who was one of the sub-editors of Vijaya Karnataka Kannada daily newspaper, had reportedly suffered cardiac arrest.

It is learnt that Chandru wasn’t keeping well for past few days. He collapsed at his home on Thursday afternoon and was immediately rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

A native of Gauripura in Chitradurga district, Chandru had completed graduation in engineering. However, he had chosen journalism as his profession.
