AIMIT teams emerge champions at Joshiana-2.0 IT fest

Mangalore, October 18: St. Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT), St Aloysius College, Mangalore (Autonomous) has made it again by their wonderful achievement. And this time it is bigger and better.

The students of AIMIT who participated in the fest Joshiana 2.0, the IT fest conducted by the department of computer science and application at St.Josephs Engineering College October 14 and 15, have won both the overall championship as well as the runner's up which brings in double celebration to aimitians, first time ever in any college fests by any participating college.

The overall championship team: Sirvi Dinesh, Shiba Adka, Amanda Monteiro, Leoraj D'Souza, Shrishail Kamble, Srinidhi Prabhu, Shridhar Shastry, Sapna Rajan, Roydon D'Souza. The runner's up team : Mohammed Fahad, Cedric Mascarenhas, Reahma Tellis, Shashank NS, Sharath Bangera, Lawrence Lobo, Arun Jose, Tony KS, Sudheesh MS.

List of events won: Jam and toggle talk (1st place Cedric, 2nd place Shiba), Treasure hunt (Amanda), Web Designing (1st place Roydon and Leoraj), IT Quiz (1st place Roydon and Leoraj), Image and Video editing (1st place Fahad and Sudheesh, 2nd place Roydon and Leoraj), Paper presentation (2nd place Reshma and Shashank), Mad-Ad and Product Launch (1st place Srinidhi, Sapna, Amanda, Shrishail, Shiridhar)

Bengaluru, Apr 28:  Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today launched a Helpline service for Kannadigas residing outside Karnataka.

On April 24, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary in a letter to the Chief Minister requested a helpline for stranded Kannadigas in Mumbai, other States and other countries.

The helpline will help resolve the problem of stranded Kannadigas across the country. After a request is made, local authorities of the caller will be contacted to provide the required help. The helpline will be operated from Bengaluru and staffed with 50 employees in three shifts.

Bengaluru, Feb 17: Karnataka State Government have plans to establish three more ultra Mega Renewable Energy power parks, each of 2500 MW capacity, Karnataka Governor, Vajubhai Wala informed the joint legislative meeting, here on Monday.

Addressing a Joint Legislative meeting here, he said that the proposed Ultra Mega Renewable Energy parks would come up at Koppala, Bidar and Gadaga in the state.

Mangaluru, July 10: Five people including four policemen suffered injuries following a clash at Melkar in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district last night.

Abdul Salam, 29, a resident of Goltamajalu near Kalladka, was arrested on charge of attacking policemen. He was also attacked by the cops on the spot. Currently he is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to sources, Abdul Salam and another person were quarrelling with lorry drivers on the highway. A couple of policemen including ASI Shailesh, who were on patrol, intervened.

This led to a clash between cops and Abdul Salam, who reportedly snatched the baton from a cop and hit the men in khaki, eye witnesses said.

However, police sources claimed that Abdul Salam was holding an iron road and he thrashed policemen with the rod.

Meanwhile, more policemen reached the spot and thrashed the accused before arresting him.

Police sources said ASI Shailesh, HC Devappa and PCs Niranjan and Malik were injured in the incident. The policemen were treated the government hospital in Bantwal.

Abdul Salam, who suffered critical injuries, was taken to a private hospital in Mangaluru after preliminary treatment.

A case was registered against him in the Bantwal Town Police Station under section 353, 504, 506, 332, 307, 427 IPC, and 2 A Karnataka Prevention of Destruction of Public Property Act.

All police are not truthful people and they dont have rights to hit any civilian, they are not protecting any citizen they only serve politicians
