MRPL mishap victims still critical

Mangalore, October 20: The cremation of Munna Kumar, the worker who died in the fire mishap at the work site of the crude storage tank of III Phase of MRPL was held at a crematorium in Surathkal on Wednesday in presence of his father and relatives.

Munna's family has been assured Rs 12 lakh (Rs six lakh from Offshore Company and Rs six lakh from Disaster Relief Fund). Apart from this, permanent job will be offered to Munna's father who has been working in the same company on contract basis. Munna's father was working in the same site when the blast occurred.The police has arrested Offshore Company Regional Manager Khasim Kutti and Safety Supervisor Riyaz with regard to the incident.

Munna who was working as a painter for the company is survived by his parents, brother and a sister.

Critical

The condition of two victims of the fire mishap that occurred at the site of III phase of MRPL continues to be critical on Wednesday. Raheem (22), hailing from Bidar, had suffered cent per cent burn injuries when a blast reportedly occurred inside the crude storage tank, which is under construction.

He was taken to A J Hospital in Mangalore and the doctors treating him informed that the chances of Raheem surviving is rather bleak. “He is able to breathe and even utter some vague words, but his condition is critical,” said the sources.

Meanwhile, Pappu Mahto, another victim of the mishap from West Bengal who has been admitted to Fr Muller hospital too is in critical condition with 60 per cent burns.

Mangaluru airport bomb planter Aditya Rao surrenders; calls it act of revenge

Bengaluru, Jan 22: The suspected man in planting of a live bomb at the Mangaluru International Airport surrendered before the DG and IG of Karnataka Police, Neelamani Raju, here on Wednesday, police sources said.

The accused was identified as Aditya Rao, a resident of Udupi.

The accused was taken for questioning by the Halasurugate Police, where he was being interrogated intensively, the sources further said.

According to them, he confessed that he planted an explosive device at Mangaluru Airport on Monday said that it was an act of revenge for denying him an employment by the Kempegowda International Airport Limited (KIAL).

He was arrested by the Bengaluru police in the past for making a hoax call to the police stating that a bomb had been planted at the Bengaluru Airport.

Karnataka Home minister Basavaraj Bommai told the media that 'the Bengaluru police have taken the custody of Aditya Rao, who is being subjected for a thorough interrogation'.

The Mangaluru police was also likely to join the Bengaluru police into the investigation, the sources added.

This would have been a false flag operation, if he was not caught, they would have been an explosions and Dr.police would have put muslim youths behind bars...or that was the intention/plan but due to unforseen reasons failed......i hope someone comes out with the truth..

if he were to be a muslim, he would have benn branded terrorist. revenge and all these expalnations are just excuses. investigate from where an dhow he got bombs.

Bomb has weaken once bomber name appears. Now time for fact finding, family emotions, personal attachments etc. If he was Muslim it would have connected to ISIS, Anti-CAA, Pakistan, Kerala..

Mangaluru: Cops accuse PFI of taking out march without permission

Mangalore, Feb 17: The Popular Front of India (PFI) on Monday took out a march in Mangalore's Deralakatte without seeking permission, police said.

"They were only given permission for a programme but they took out a march from Madaninagar to Deralakatte," said ACP Kodanada Rama.

1-month-old baby dies as 10 private hospitals refuse treatment over corona fears

Bengaluru, July 17: An infant with heart-related complications died after 10 private hospitals in the city allegedly refused to admit him over coronavirus fears.

In search of a hospital to treat his one-month-old child, the helpless father drove around for 200km in the city. The child breathes its last after suffering for 36 hours.

The infant’s health worsened around 11am on Sunday. “A doctor from a nearby clinic visited our house and said the baby had heart-related issues. As advised, we decided to shift the child to a private hospital,” the father said. The family lives in Basaveshwaranagar.

The parents went to several private hospitals, but in vain. “We visited hospitals in Bavaveshwaranagar, Chord Road, Sheshadripuram, Goraguntepalya and Yeshwanthpur. None of them agreed to treat our baby, and we returned home at night,” the father said.

“On Monday morning, we started the journey again. This time, we went to a hospital near Jayadeva flyover. We were driving near Marathahalli when our child stopped breathing. We rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead,” he said.
