Kannadigas, Tamilians, kids of Cauvery: Pejawar Seer

Madikeri, October 24: Kannadigas and Tamilians are like twin children for Cauvery river, which is the lifeline of the district and both the States. By bringing them together, it spreads the message of harmony among the two states, said Pejawar Seer Vishweshatheertha Swamiji.

Speaking after flagging off 'Mathe Sri Cauvery Jagruthi Theerthayathre' at Bhagamandala on Sunday, he said the yathre aims at spreading the message on sanctity of river Cauvery and to create awareness to check pollution of the river.

The yathre commences from Talacauvery and will conclude at Poombukar in Tamilnadu, the estuary where the river Cauvery joins the sea. The embellished chariot will travel 765 km spreading the message of unity and integrity.

The yathre was organised by Akhila Bharatha Sanyasigala Sangha of Rameshwaram, said state convenor Sadashiva.

Senior Journalist G Rajendra said about 40 sages and saints will take part in the yathre. Zilla Panchayat President SHantheyanda Ravi Kushalappa, Bhagamandala ZP member S N Rajarao, Additional DC K M Chandre Gowda and others were present.

Pejawar Seer Vishweshatheertha Swamiji said that there was nothing wrong in seers visiting former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in jail. He said “visiting prisoner in the jail or in the hospital is just an attempt to reform them.”

Mangaluru, Jul 19: Two flights with 346 stranded Kannadigas from Sharjah and Dammam landed at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) on Saturday night.

MIA officials said on Sunday that the chartered flight from Dammam landed with 178 stranded people, while an Air India flight from Sharjah landed with 168 stranded passengers under the 'Vande Bharat Mission'.

All the passengers on their arrival underwent health checkup and were sent for seven days institutional quarantine. They will undergo swab tests during the quarantine period, health officials said.

Mangaluru, Mar 24: With four new coronavirus positive cases reported, surveillance against people coming out of their houses and wandering around in public places has been intensified in the coastal city of Mangaluru today.

With today's addition, the total number of positive cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has increased to five in Mangaluru.

All the four new patients are said to be Keralites. Among them three are undergoing treatment at Wenlock Hospital and another one in KMC Hospital.

There will be total restriction in place for the public to step out of their houses. Those who are found outside on the streets would be arrested, caution the district authorities.

Mangaluru, Jun 23: A charter flight carrying as many as 166 people including a child stranded in United Arab Emirates today reached Mangaluru. 

The flight was chartered by M Friends Charitable Trust, Mangaluru and My Community Foundation with the sole intention of helping the repatriation of stranded passengers such as pregnant women, elderly people and those who are in need of emergency medical care. 

The flydubia flight FZ4617 took off from Dubai at 2 p.m. and landed at Mangaluru International Airport at 7:22 p.m.

The passengers who arrived from UAE hail from different parts of coastal Karnataka and passengers themselves had borne the ticket fare for their travel.

M Friends president Haneef Haji Goltamajalu has thanked representatives of My Community Foundation and M Friends Trusty Ashraf Abbas Kunjattur, M Friends NRI leader Haneef Puttur, general secretary Rasheed Vittla for their efforts in chartering the flight.

In the last three weeks, 13 special flights with around 2150 passengers from various Gulf countries had landed at Mangaluru airport. 

Already, throat swab samples of 1814 passengers, who had arrived in Mangaluru, have been tested and 239 people with international travel history have tested positive and the samples of 1,575 passengers have tested negative so far.
