Mangalore, October 25: The BJP is sure of getting outstanding response to Advani's Rathyathra, which will be entering the district on October 30.

Addressing a news conference in Mangalore on Monday after holding discussion over the preparations required to welcome L K Advani's Rathyathra, BJP General Secretary C T Ravi said that the 41-day long yatra intends to spread awareness against corruption, stress on bringing back the black money hoarded in foreign banks and to take measures to make administrative mechanism more efficient.

“Party workers from Belthangady and Bantwal will come to the city in a 'padayatra' and express support to the Rathyatra of Advani, he said adding that as many as 30 different wings have been formed for the success of the yatra in the state,” he said.

Sixth rathyatra

“This is the 6th rathyatra of 84-year old Advani. With his clean character and credibility that he has maintained over 57 years of political life, he is in a position to face any challenge,” said Ravi.

Guilty will be punished

Ravi said that corruption has engulfed even the BJP but it has not smothered the party. He said that senior leader L K Advani will be giving out a clear message through his rathayatra that wrong doers and guilty will not be spared at any cost.

With regard to Home Minister R Ashoka, Ravi said that there are only allegations, and not been proved yet. Hence there is no question of keeping him away at all.

“Advani will surely visit Bangalore and R Ashoka will take part in the programme to be held there,” he said adding that if the allegations are proved against any BJP leaders then they will be expelled from the party without any second thoughts.

“B S Yeddyurappa tendered his resignation as soon as the Lokayukta report was out. But there are people like Raj Kumar in Sheela Dixit's cabinet who have not stepped down from the post despite the allegations being proved,” he said adding that BJP leaders have set examples for others through their conduct.

Bengaluru, Jun 28: Karnataka Minister for Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar faced criticism by netizens after he shared a TikTok video sent by his daughter and wife, who are currently undergoing treatment in a COVID-19 facility.

TikTok is a Chinese video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance, a Beijing-based internet technology company founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming.

Dr Sudhakar’s father, his wife and daughter who tested positive for Covid-19 has been admitted to a designated facility and in order to make his birthday memorable, his daughter sent him greetings through TikTok video.

When the minister shared the TikTok video, people pointed out that the minister should know better and that he should urge his family to boycott the Chinese video-sharing platform and lead by example.

Many were miffed that a BJP leader put up a TikTok video at a time when tensions are running high between India and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

New Delhi, Mar 4: The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed a trial court in Ramanagara district of Karnataka to ensure the presence of absconding self-styled godman Swami Nithyananda to face trial in a 2010 rape case.

A bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde also allowed a plea by K Lenin alias Nithya Dharmananda, former driver of Nithyananda and had filed a complaint against Nithyananda, for cancellation of non-bailable warrants issued against him.

The apex court ordered the cancellation of the non-bailable warrants issued against the complainant in the case on the condition he shows up before the trial court in Ramanagara district today itself.

He had challenged the Karnataka High Court's February order where non-bailable warrants were issued against Lenin for not appearing before the court for recording evidence.

"Having heard the counsel appearing for the petitioner and upon perusal of the record, we see no reason to interfere with the judgment and order passed by the High Court, which merely directs the petitioner to give evidence in support of his complaint," read the apex court order passed on Tuesday.

The Bench also directed that "the concerned trial court shall make every effort to ensure the presence of accused (Nithyananda) to face the proceedings."

The Karnataka High Court had last month cancelled the bail granted to Nithyananda, even as the state police claimed the absconding godman was on a 'spiritual tour'.

Nithyananda is facing charges of rape and indulging in unnatural sex. He was arrested on April 22, 2010, however, granted bail on June 11, the same year.
